I have a 4 year old daughter who we are seeking an agent for and applied to many agencies.  Yesterday I got an email from Michael Richards telling me they were interested in my daughter and had a few additional questions for me.  So I responded with the answers and shortly recieved an email from him saying they need for me to pay them a spring break special of $299 and they will talk to me afte they process my payment.  Well needless to say I know enough about the industry having worked in it myself for 20+ years that I know you don't need to provide money to anyone for representation and we are not looking for a website to list my child on, we are looking for an agent.  I responded back to Michael with the following response, "I am not paying for anything.  Thanks, but no thanks.  Please remove me from your contact list."  and then that is when I got the following response from him....

Ok then don’t apply anymore we are the cheapest out there.  Even to work with an agent will cost you at least a grand. Just leave it alone until she turns 18!  I have parents that pay $6900 for Barbizon (school)

Then they take their child to IMTA to get them with an agent $7800 for kid and $2900 for parent to go to IMTA.  I actually own an advertisement agency sir and we sell leads and advertisement to 140 top entertainment companies.  So when you don’t invest nothing will pan out.  You have to pay for medical school to become a doctor and invest 8 years.  Same idea here sir.  No one will do anything for free, those days are long gone.  We have 6 million beginners that want to become a star every year.  Look Gregg if money is a huge issue and you really want to help your daughter we can offer you a 1 year service for $150.00.  If you can’t invest $12 per month so she can get quality auditions I don’t know why I am taking my time to help you.  I am a multi millionaire and I usually spend $300-$500 on lunch sir every day.  I take out my employees on my tab.  Anyway have a great evening and if you think about this and you want to give it a shot at least we aren’t asking you for an arm and a leg.  Go to Barbizon, John Casablanca’s, John Robert Powers.  Ask them how much and get back to me.  And even if you find a poor casting site that charges $29.95 per month, you will still end up spending $900 in 3 years just for a website.  Do the math.

And people have this impression that an agent will accept your daughter.  If you want tomorrow I will give you a list of every legit talent agent in the country.  Call them try setting up appointments without been connected or referred.  First of all the only way agents will look at you is if you do a mass mail.  To send a headshot to 400 agents at $1 each is $400 on mailing fees. I have been doing this for 22 years sir, and an average photographer that’s good charges $600-$1200 for a headshot.  Think about it and if you really don’t want to spend money this is not the field for you!  You might have to drive to 20 auditions, wait in 20 lines, and your daughter wont book a single job.  Its not easy and its very competitive.  So if you don’t want to invest time into your kid, don’t do it at all!

Do your research and see that others have had similar bad experiences with this company and run!  Keep your hard earned money and know that you any agent will not charge you to represent your children or self as they are making a commission on you when you book a job.

Good luck!
