Home Advisor charges just under $300 to sign up for their service. This is a yearly fee and not a one time fee.

Once they get your money, they will give you a "forecast" of how many leads you are to receive per month based on your monthly budget.

This forecast is based on last years leads for that same month as well as leads over the past 30 days.

Their "Forecast " figures are grossly deceptive.

My marketing budget for the year is $18,000 which is $1,500 per month.

If you call in to Home Advisor and ask them how many leads will $1,500 buy you, they will tell you, "This is a good target advertising budget, based on that budget, we are forecasting approximatly 93-104 leads for the month.

Since they can only look back 30 days, we couldnt talk about the fact i havent received a lead from them for the last 8 days at the time of this writing I had them go and review September 2018 results.

After review they said i received 22 leads for $359.

If you do the math,  359 divided by 1500 is 24%.

That means, out of 100% accuracy, they are overpromising 75% of the expected leads based on their "forecast"

At this rate $359 x 12 months equals $4,308.  Leaving me with a $13,691 surplus left for marketing.

You could have a marketing budget of $1,000,000 and not receive any leads for weeks.

For the month of  October as of Octover 18th 2018 i have received 6 leads. If we double that i am clipping 12 leads for October, which, if you divide that into the 100 leads they are  "forecasting" that means they are clipping wrong numbers 88% of the time.

88 PERCENT!

I wont get into the quality of leads, or customers that you cant get a hold of, OR THEIR "Opportunity leads" which the moment you receive them, they are expired.

I got so tired of receiving expired leads that are no longer available that i just blocked their number so i dont receive any more of these crap expired leads from them. (which is a whole nother story)

What i want you to take away from reading this is , DO NOT believe their forecasts. If they tell you "we forecast 50 leads, expect 70-85% less so 10-13 leads actual. And those all dont close, maybe 2 or 3 out of 12 will close, so you need to ask yourself, is Home Advisor really the best use of your marketing dollars?

What good is a $1500 monthly marketing budget if you end up dying on the vine waiting for leads?

Just saying.
