Home Depot Credit Services Charging me over $8,000. for nothing received! Ruined my credit! Des Moines Iowa
I ordered a kitchen cabinet remodel, but cancelled the entire order preferring to wait. The parent company refuses to acknowledge the cancellation, despite obtaining and mailing paperwork proving nothing was obtained (twice) after hours at the customer service desk. Even the designer herself helped to attempt to convince the parent company that the whole order was cancelled. My credit has been ruined by Home Depot considering me responsible for money I don't owe over the last two years. Any one else damaged? How about a class action lawsuit!

The only thing that can be done as far as the charges on the credit card itself, is to have a store credit your card back for the full amount. Home Depot actually pays for Citi Bank to service their credit card, therefore most of the "rules" so to speak are Home Depot's rules or rules that the banks lawyers have created. In short, if the store doesn't physically credit the money back to your credit card Citi Bank has no actions it CAN take.
NOW to those of you who are reading this and are new to a problem similiar to this:: If you are being charged for a purchase that is NOT yours, or a purchase you have not received. You can fill out a fraud form. I do not recommend this to people who are just trying to get out of their bills, we do investigate each individual situation. The reason I am not giving it as an option to this particular case is because by law there is a small period of time in which we can actually claim something as fraud (I believe it's within 90 days of the original purchase, i'd have to double check.)
I can not even promise this will work in every situation as it is possible that during investigation the store provides us with information to say a purchase was truly made. This is simply a last resort.
The first and best solution to correcting errors of being charged for something you did not take home is a store manager. Not a clerk, or an assistant manager, but a store manager. If you don't waste a lot of time and you go straight for the guy in charge of the building 9 times out of 10 he/she can get it resolved easily for you.

I have been in dispute with Home Depot and The Fence Company, their sub-contractor for almost two years now, and their credit services--Citi--has added finance charges to an account I refuse to pay. The fence material and installations are crap, and I have told HD to come remove the fence so I can have a reputable contractor install a proper fence. I now have been placed with a collection agency--for the first time in my life--but I still refuse to pay for the piece of crap they call a proper installation of a cedar privacy fence--I can shake the fence and fence posts on three sides!!! One side is wavy--as viewed from a neighbor's yard. The wood is of terrible quality--worm indentations, many other imperfections, etc. etc. etc.
My complaint, though, is still with Home Depot and The Fence Company--HD contracted with The Fence Company, and therefore are responsible for their poor workmanship, but HD has not listened to anything I have had to say, asked me not to send so many pictures because it takes up too much room on their computer--DUH--save them to disk, print them out, or send them out for professional development!
Anyway, I have run the entire gambut--all BBBs, Angie's List, State Attorney General's Office, and HD refuses to do anything.
I really do believe your complaint rests with HD--Citi carries their paper, but HD pulls their strings!!

Why is it that when anybody has been "wronged" they are crying class action lawsuit? Is that suppose to mean something? I see it here all the time. I mean really. If a person feels they've been "wronged" or harmed by a company or individual go ahead and sue the crap out of them. But enough of this class action B/S.

I don't know all of the details of your case; however, Angel brings up a very signifigant point. If the original agency of your account sold out, it can cause serious delays as part of the buyout.
Another thing to consider is that you most likely cancelled after certain portions of your project were special ordered. If the store does not normally stock the items required for your project, you may be held liable for that order regardless of whether you cancelled it or not.
It may not seem fair or right to you, but imagine going to a Ferrari dealer and special ordering a car to you exact specifications, only to cancel it after it's built. The dealer may not be able to sell that car since it's not what they normally carry.

For the record, when you purchase a big item that requires installation, you must get a refund from the store at least that is how it works now. Since your incident Citibank has bought out HDCS which at the time of your misfortune was issued by GE. We now have a stronger say so when it comes to refunds and return policy as we can make it happen for our consumers. It is an unfortunate event but I think that it should be known that Home depot credit services is now part of the citigroup family the leader in worldwide credit. That should be a releif to all!

There is typically a statute of limitations on suing. If you've waited for over two years to think about taking legal action you may be out of luck.
