Complaint Review: HOME DEPOT

HOME DEPOT rip-off! DONT MAKE ONLINE ORDERS AT HOME DEPOT! TOPSHAM Maine

LAST WEEK I MADE AN ONLINE ORDER TO HOME DEPOT, I WAS ORDERING A LIGHT FIXTURE FOR FRIENDS IN CT, I SUCCESFULLY MADE THE ORDER AND WAS EXCITED FOR MY CT FRIENDS TO GET IT WITHIN THE PROMISED 2-3DAYS. I WAITED A WEEK AND FINALLY GOT A LETTER FROM H.D. SAYING THEY WERE OUT OF STOCK ON THAT ITEM... I SAID THAT WAS FINE THAT I WOULD LIKE TO CANCEL MY ORDER AT THAT TIME. WITH AN ATTITUDE ON THE OTHER END, SHE MADE THE CHANGE... OR SO I THOUGHT. THE VERY NEXT DAY I WAS CHARGED THE 186 DOLLARS ANYWAY!! IT WAS TAKEN FROM MY ACCOUNT...

I CALLED HOME DEPOT, THEY SAID THEY DIDNT CHARGE MY ACCOUNT... AND THAT IT WAS CANCELLED. I HOWEVER WAS ONLINE WITH MY BANK, AND WAS READING THE STATEMENT RIGHT THEN TO HER OVER THE OHONE THAT IT WAS INDEED TAKEN OUT... SHE STILL DENIED IT AND AFTER BEING PUT ON HOLD FOR 10 MORE MINUTES, SHE CAME BACK AND SAID SHE DOUBLE CHECKED AND THE CHARGE WAS NEVER TAKEN FROM MY ACCOUNT FROM THEM, I GUESS I WAS SEEING THINGS. HMMMM IT WAS VERY FRUSTRATING.

I THEN CALLED VISA AND MY BANK, AND TOLD THEM THE SITUATION... THEY INFORMED ME THAT HOME DEPOT HAD TAKEN THE MONEY AND BECAUSE I CANCELED MY ORDER THEY HAD 30 DAYS TO PUT IT BACK INTO MY ACCOUNT!! CAN YOU IMAGINE!! I NEVER EVEN HAD THE ITEM IN THE FIRST PLACE!! MY BANK DID GO FURTHUR AND INVESTIGATED THE WHOLE SITUATION, AND AFTER 2WEEKS I FIANNLY AM REIMBURSED MY MONEY... BUT I WILL NEVER EVER EVER ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN!! ALSO WHILE SHOPPING WITH MY HUSBAND FOR RUG A FEW WEEKS AGO. WE WERE QUOTED A PRICE AT THE RUG DEPARTMENT OF 285- DOLLARS...

THEN WHEN WE GET UP TO THE REGISTER THE SALES LADY RINGS UP 360!! WE SAID THERE HAD TO BE A MISTAKE, SHE JUST LOOKED AT US LIKE WE WERE ALIENS! WE SAID WE WERE NOT GOING TO PAY THAT AND COULD SHE RING IT UP AGAIN,,MABY SHE HAD MADE A MISTAKE, NOPE SHE RANG IT UP AGAIN AND IT STILL RANG UP 360! NOW WERE DOUGHTING OURSELVES AND HAULED THIS HUGE CARPET ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE GUY WHO CUT IT, HE DID CALCULATIONS ON HIS CALCULATOR AND CAME UP WITH 285- ONCE AGAIN..WE SAID THE LADY THAT JUST RANG US UP TOLD US IT WAS 360! HE THEN WROTE THE PRICE ON THE CARPET IN BLACK MARKER AND EVEN INITIALED IT..

WE WENT BACK TO THE REGISTER,TO THE SAME LADY,,AND THIS TIME SHE DIDNT EVEN ASK QUESTIONS OR ATTEMPT TO RING IT UP AGAIN,,SHE CALLED BACK TO THE RUG DEPARTMENT AND ASKED IF THIS PERSON WHO INITIALED OUR CARPET REALLY DID SO... LIKE AS IF WE DID IT OURSELVES, LIKE WE WERE THIEVES OR SOMETHING!! WE COULDNT BELIEVE IT, AND THE CUSTOMERS BEHIND US WHO HAD NO CLUE OF WHAT WAS GOING ON WERE ALSO LOOKING AT US LIKE WE WERE TRYING TO PULL A FAST ONE, THE PERSON FROM CARPETS CAME UP FRONT AND VERIFIED THAT HE DID INDEED INITIAL THE CARPET AND IT WAS INDEED GOING FOR 285-... HE ALSO POINTED OUT TO THIS CASHIER THAT SHE WAS READING THE NUMBERS UPSIDE DOWN!!! SHE MADE NO APOLOGIES TO US AT ALL..AND EITHER DID WE WHEN WE LEFT THE STORE...WITHOUT THE CARPET AND HER STANDING THERE WONDERING WHAT SHE SHOULD DO WITH IT!

That was so unfortunate that you were unable to make a successful purchase. What the company pays for is what the consumer gets." Good quality pay scales yeild quality service to your clients". There are some caring , compasionate , and knowledgeable workers there but its a shame that you have to luck out to find one. Morality amongst the population in this company is at its lowest and is getting worse as long as consumers such as yourself and the millions of others that frequent do not send in those refferal letters to our home office regarding good service received. The associate has more leverage in getting higher pay scales. But profits are high. I dont want you to think that this is an attempt to strong arm referal letters out of you or anyone who catches light of this commentary but since tips are not allowed , when you do come across that in tuned associate that caters to your needs make sure you send a referal letter stating the type of service given, the name of the associate that helped you dates, times,etc. and send it in to the human resources department, the customer support center, and so on. Since it is a once and blue moon situation finding help, develope a relationship with a favorite associate.
