I have purchased warranties for my riding mower and major appliances. I have come to discover that; "Any warranty purchased through Home Depot isn't worth the paper it was written on." This is a direct quote from a manager within Federal Warranty Co. which as I understand underwrites or services all Home Depot warranties.

I won't get into all the ins and outs except to say my riding mower has been gone for two weeks now, it looks like it will be gone another week at least. It took more than twenty phone calls, ten e-mails and three store visits just to get to this point, and now the idiot they hired to fix it can't find anything wrong, so he has to charge me $45.00 for the priveledge of having spent $400.00 on a worthless warranty.

Another service provider who is a go between, or dispatcher of sorts between Federal Warranty/Home Depot and the clients/Repair Shops actually paid the $45.00 on my behalf after I threatened legal action. I am exploring every legal remedy.

All I can say is if they offer you any king of extended warranty at Home Depot, run don't walk to the nearest Lowe's or Menards, because you'll get ripped off at Home Depot every step of the way.
