I got a website address from Home depot for their new dumpster rental service. My husband and I own a small contracting service and needed to rent a dumpster for a garage job. I might add here that we buy almost all of our equipment and building supplies at Home Depot, not that one small contractors business loss will make a dent in thier income.

I went online (www.trashbeegone.com) and rented the dumpster for "seven days and $10 for each extra day". Let me add here that the INDUSTRY STANDARD is that you rent the dumspter for x amount of time and weight, THEN you call them to pick it up WHEN YOU ARE DONE WITH IT, then and only then to they pick it up. At that time you will pay for any extra time or weight or get billed.

Well, they came and picked up the dumpster exactly at seven days. I have been doing this for 15 years now and I have ALWAYS, ALWAYS had to call and have the dumpster picked up when we were done. Absolutely that is the industry standard, to call and have the dumpster removed when done. No-where on their website does it state the dumpster is automatically picked up OR that you have to call 24hrs ahead to extend it (I know it now!).

I called and complained first to a sales person who agreed that the website did not say anywhere to call ahead to extend OR that the dumpster would automatically be picked up. She told me to call back and talk to customer service. I did and talked to a man named Jeff, who basically told me that this is their policy (trashbeegone's), we went back and forth and I repeatedly asked to speak to a supervisor and was refused. At one point he asked me to hold on, he came back on and told me one of the owners told him to tell me, that their policy is what it is (basically even if the website doesn't state the policy).

Well, the conversation pretty much ended with that, Jeff said he would forward my suggestion that they state the policy on the website since it is so drastically different to the industry standard. He also told me it was better that I didn't talk to the owner since he wouldn't have been so nice. Also he made it clear they didn't care if they lost our business since "they got many just as many compliments as complaints". Oh, he did offer to send a new container for the full price since half the roofing material is (and was when they picked it up) laying right next to the dumpster. We are having employee problems (what contractor isn't) and hadn't had time to move finish the cleanup.

I consider this a problem with Home Depot just as much as with TrashBeeGone, since they advertise it as their own service. I have yet to hear back from Home Depot. "Jeff" told me I should have read the flyer, what flyer? Besides, why wouldn't they state the conditions in the contract? Especially when they are so drastically different from every single other dumpster rental company?

I spoke with Don this morning from TRASHBEEGONE

I spoke with Don this morning from TRASHBEEGONE. He asked me to come back here and read what I wrote.... I see his point.
I want to clarify that the people I spoke to did a great job, I think the best they could do under the circumstances. I do stand by Jeff telling me whomever he spoke to told me the the policy "is what it is" which is what upset me and made me feel like my business didn't matter.

Jeff himself did not say anything to make me feel that way. He did offer to send a new dumpster (at full price).

Jeff also told me that they got as many compliments as complaints, I agree, there are definate advantages to the way this company is set up, however, the contract (on the website) was missing vital imformation for the consumer.
Don assurred me that they are putting the policy of automatic pickup and calling 24 hrs ahead to extend on the website. Which is basically what I was asking for.

I wasn't asking for a refund, I was upset that their policy was not stated anywhere on the website.

Someone somewhere along the way canceled my order and sure enough when I got off the phone the money was back in the account. Don said it was a mistake and had nothing to do with my complaint. I appreciate the return of my money, I didn't expect it since we did use the dumpster for seven day.

I believe they have solved the issue by correcting the missing info on the website.
