Home Owners Advocate Loss Mititgation HOALM After Encourgement that loan mod chances were excellent & signed promise for full refund upon failure ~ we were denied both! Carlsbad, California
We were referred by a friend to Stephen Vesper (Loss Mitigation Executive) at HOALM. After sharing our circumstances, we were encouraged to proceed because our chance for a loan modification with BofA were excellent. We thought carefully, checked the San Diego Better Business Bureau for any complaints against HOALM, there were none then. The clincher to proceed was HOALM's full refund policy (received verbally and written) in the event a loan modification was denied. We filled out and returning all initial and subsequent documents directly to HOALM, per their condition to assist us. We deposited the cashier's check of $3600 into HOALM's bank (BofA ~ yes ironic) to officially start our case. During the next year, we provided all required documents to HOALM, made three trial payments while BofA reviewed our case for a modification. BofA denied the loan modification because they "didn't received all the documents required." We contacted HOALM as to what was going on, if BofA didn't get docs we sent ~ HOALM fouled up somewhere. HOALM was going contact BofA to see what else could be done or what was needed, we never heard from HOALM again. We then filed a complaint with the San Diego Business Bureau and HOALM said they are not going to refund our $3600. We are pursuing other options to get our refund as I had to medically retire from my job because of all the stress related to this situation. Shame on you HOALM! We want and need our refund and will not rest until we get it.
