My wife and i both have above 755 credit scores and were putting 20% down. My loan officer was Bernie Rebollar, who over 4 weeks of closing, assured us that we were on target to close. We had provided all of the documents requested on day 1 of the application process. It wasnt until a week later that someone even looked at what we sent in. Two weeks before closing, I asked several time if there was anything else they needed from us, and i was told no by both Bernie, and his team. 3 days before closing, they informed me that they couldnt proceed because of 2 leaks in the roof that were on the exterior of the house (not under HVAC). As a result, we will probably lose the house.

New customers beware: They are unresponsive, they don't look at documents until days before closing, and try to lure you in with low rates and little to no fees. Thats sounds great until you can't close and are at risk of losing the property.

They'll also tried to say that the issue was that the roof needed repairs, but the issue is them telling us about it 3 days before closing when they had this information for weeks. As a result, theres no time to fix it.

Jim, Yes I did have an inspection done, like any normal home buyer.  The roof leaks were minor and on the exterior of the property, I know because I walked along side of the inpsectoer.  Home point bringing it up 3 days before closing and saying that we can't close is so unbelievable that its shocking.  Especially when home point had this information for weeks and we asked them if there's anything else we need to do, and the answer was always, "NO".  The fact that the company doesn't want to take any responsiblilty for this just shows other consumers what and who they're dealing with.

Inspection?

Did YOU have an inspection performed? If so, YOU would have known about the roof leaks before they did and at that point you could have decided either to have the seller repair the roof at their expense, or walk away from the deal.
