Home Service USA Homeserv Small print allowed them to not cover my broken water line East Brunswick , New Jersey

Beware! This company sells policies in many states.

I paid for a Water Line Service Policy with Home Service USA for 8 years. When my water line leaked/broke I called them and they sent a contractor who could not find a leak outside or inside my home. I also called my regular plumber and one other plumber as well, they too could not find the leak. All three agreed that my water line is broken or leaking and I'm loosing hundreds of gallons a day but no one could find the location of the leak. The whole line would have to be replaced.

Read the small print! I found to my dismay that I am the owner of an External policy and not an Internal policy. Who knew? If one short line of the very, very small print states that you are covered from the street to your home, then, guess what? You have an External policy. BUT (and they don't say this) once the water line enters through the wall or foundation of your home to connect to your plumbing, you need an Internal policy.

Since their contractor could not find a leak outside my home, according to Home Service that means that my leak is automatically an Internal leak and they refused to cover it since I did not own both policies. They did however offer the contractors services for $3550

Nothing they've done is illegal, but beware!
