homegrocer.com food delivery ripped me off
I had a delivery from HomeGrocer.com on Aug. 7, 2000. After the delivery, the driver took a good portion of the tree in my front yard with him. He did stop and tell my wife and I was sure it would all be resolved rather quickly.
On Aug 9th after several calls, they finally had someone come and remove the tree from the street and they decided the remaining part of the tree would not live, so it went too. The tree removal company said they werent responsible for doing anything to the stump though, so it was left. I contacted HG again about resolution of the issue (when I could finally get through), and they said they would contact their insurance company. I (finally) get a call back from the insurance company on (I believe) Aug 16. They left a message saying we dont own that property because it is an easment. Then went on to say that I would receive no settlement because, that even though it has lowered my propery value by losing a 16 diameter 25 - 30 year old tree that I take care of by watering etc, I dont own it.
I tried to contact HG a few more times, leaving voice mails only, because the person handling this (Scott Neusbaum) does not ever answer his phone. I never received a call back. I tried the 800 number again on Aug 21 and after being on hold for over 20 minutes, go hold of Chuck (Mare?) and he said he would have someone get back to me. He was to call again Wednesday Aug 23 to see what happened. I called Chuck again on Wednesday Aug 23, and waited 20 minutes on hold through the 800 number, and he said he would have someone else call me back since no one had contacted me. It was supposed to be within the hour. Finally heard back from Robert Blue and he said to talk to the insurance company again. She gave me a little run-around,but said she would get back to me about settling this.
I called her back on Aug 29th and she said the claim has been denied, but they would remove the stump. So I am still screwed out of a tree by Homegrocer.com and their insurance company. I have lost a large tree and the associated property value of a large tree. HG will do nothing in the way of financial compensation to even plant another small tree there. So because the tree is between the sidewalk and the road instead of the other side of the sidewalk, they basically told me to get screwed.
I asked to speak with someone higher up, but cannot get through and they will not forward any information up. All calls are directed to call the insurance company. That is after being on hold for at least 20 minutes whenever you call. Stay away from homegrocer.com!!!!
