I was sent a check for $4,890 and was told I had 'won' a grant by random selection of applicants. I had to call and 'activate' my check before cashing. The check was to pay the taxes on my $39,000 home improvement grant, which I did not need to own a home to use. I never got anyone to answer the phone the first time and the second try got a recording that the number was unavailable.
