Our Mortgage was serviced by citi residential until January 2009 and we never had any issues until then, when  AHMSI took over. In December of 2008 we received our escro statement and where informed that our escrow payment for property taxes was raised from $ 158.68 per month to $403.11. This increase was unjustified because due to my husbands disability and age our taxes never increase. Since our escrow payments where never part of the original Loan and we paid in to escrow voluntarily, I canceled the escrow account immediately with citi residential and was told this would be taken care off. At this time we did not know that our Mortgage was taken over by AHMSI. I continued to make the escrow payment of $ 158.68 until February of 2009 to give it time to sort everything out.

In March of 2009 we began receiving harassing calls from AHMSI stating we where late on our Mortgage, alltough we continued to make our payments in a timely manner. I informed them that I had canceled the escrow account and since the was still money in the escrow account to refund it. From then on we only paid the Mortgage and stopped paying for the escrow, we where unable to talk to anyone in the US and received harassing phone calls 3-4 times a day. We got the run around for months and finally managed to get our escrow refunded in the amount of $ 1111.82 in April of 2009. AHMSI continued to call and demanded money we did not owe and started to report us to the credit agencies as late on our Mortgage every months and charging late charges every month.

To date they are demanding $ 2000.00 in late charges which I can not and will not pay, because we never missed a payment nor have we ever been late. In 2011 we complained to the Attorney General of Texas. We have tried to refinance with another company when rates are low, only to be turned down because of the credit information AHMSI and Homeward Mortgage is providing. We filed bankruptcy this year but their demand for money  not owed to them continues.
