We bought a male, Black and Tan, Doberman on Sept. 2, 2017. Within 12 hours of him being home he was showing signs of sickness, coughing/breathing heavy and severe diarrhea. We took him to out vet for an emergency trip on Sunday, Sept. 3 to find out he had pneumonia and at that time he was treated with 7 days of deworming treatment. I called to notify Lori Hoover on Sunday and to also ask if any other litter mates were ill and her response was no. I took him back to my vet on Sept. 13 for blood work and his white blood count was still elevated and he was anemic, still having diarrhea, he was given more medicine for the treatment of worms. I took him back to the vet on Monday Sept. 18, white blood count still elevated and he is being treated again with 2 medicines to get rid of giardia, which is why he has sever diarrhea from the beginning. I also had to take my other dog to the vet because she has contracted upper respiratory/pneumonia from him as well. I spoke with Lori after the appt. and she said there is no way he went home with pneumonia from her home, it is all due to the stress of leaving litter and travel. I can see some stress but no way is pneumonia and severe diarrhea coming on in the first 12 hours of being with us (I kept him on same food to reduce chance of diarrhea). I also understand gairdia is common but that was also not picked up in the first 12 hours of being with us. He response to all my issues was weaken immune system due to stress of new home. I don't buy this response, unfortunately, it is an easy cop out to any problems that may arise. I am lucky he didn't come with more, or something more serious like parvo. Please do your homework, pictures aren't enough! Read the reviews and take the warning, look else where. For those of you that have healthy dogs, I am so happy for you and am glad you're not going through what some of us are. Her response is sad and excuses are not helpful, better living conditions and healthcare for all in her kennels would be appreciated. We love our little guy and are doing everything we can to get him healthy, just wish he would have come to us that way! Beware when you buy!
