The Horace Mann Insurance Co changed my wife's agent and didn't bother to tell her. Worse than that they cancelled her renters insurance and claim they sent her notification in the US mail, but she never got any such letter. This "Teacher Based" company has gladly debited her account for the last year and never once sent her proof of her auto insurance. She called and found out who her new agent was and he, Gary Linkon, stated that Horace Mann has sent her that info a long time ago. It was determined by their less than competent customer service people that her mail was routed through her apartment office and this was the reason why she never got anything. They blame our apartment office, but every piece of mail directed to her or me got to our door promptly without fail so I know Horace Mann has dropped the ball and is lying to cover their mistake. We asked Mr. Linkon again for her proof of auto insurance, something that she's legally required to have and definitely entitled to, and he claims that they sent it 12/10/2010. Today is 12/28/2010, 18 days later. I'm sure that the mail is a little slower during this busy holiday season, but it's not that slow. I also asked him to address the company's erroneous and inaccurate claim about our apartment office, but he must have forgotten. I'm sure he thinks that maybe he can use a Jedi mind trick and we'll forget, but we're both teachers and our kind are smart, resourceful, mindful, and caring so we are not easily fooled. Teachers beware that this company is a rip off and get an F-. What Mr. Linkon's corporate office has failed to tell him because they obviously have poor commuication is that we cancelled her policy yesterday. We're not going to tell him just to see how long it actually takes for this less than scholarly fellow to notice. I am going to demand her money back for the last year and I wonder who else can I notify in addition to Ripoff Report. Any suggestions? Please don't say BBB either cause they are worthless just like Horace Mann
