Hornburg is the epitome of why car dealers have a bad reputation. Bought a Range Rover here in June. Certified/used. Were told it had brand new front and rear brakes. Put ~7k mikes on it and the brakes began to chatter. Badly. Took it into the shop at Land Rover Marin and were told the rotors were warped and needed to be replaced, all the brakes too. Not covered by warranty since its "normal wear and tear". The service folks at Land Rover Marin suggested Hornburg put new brakes on warped rotors. We called Hornburg and they denied anything possibly being wrong with the car. Told us 7k miles is acceptable for needing replacement. (?!?!?!?!&@*#%*+!!!!) They were rude, condescending and took almost ten phone calls to get someone to talk to us. Asked me if I've driven a Range Rover before, as if they require a special braking technique. (It's our family's 4th or 5th...) Their receptionist couldn't reach the manager at his desk (kept sending me to voicemail) in their tiny shop and wouldn't get up from her desk to walk around the corner to find him. I kept asking them to make it right. Advise me as to what they'd do if in my shoes. Zero empathy. Total arrogance. Not how you keep a customer. They could have promptly returned our calls. If they weren't going to cover the replacement, they at least could have offered to split it. Anything. Funny thing is...took my dad in the month prior to check out their Jags. So glad he didn't buy anything when we were there. They've lost a customer for life. And I'll tell everyone we know how terrible they are. DON'T SHOP HERE. They're dishonest, sleazy crooks that give the Range Rover brand a bad name. Land Rover Marin was very empathetic and gave us a huge discount on the repair. You suck, Hornburg! Keeping a customer should be more important than making one.

...since none of what I said you stated was in your report!  Once in a while this website places the rebuttal into the wrong place and that's what happened here!  I was writing about somebody who admitted they didn't bother to inspect the car, they just put out the money without even test driving the car!  Then they come here to cry and whine how bad of a car they bought when if they used common sense, they would have found out the car was junk!  There are tons of people who do that!

I did read your report and would agree with you up to a point.  First off, many car dealers throw around the word "certified" when it doesn't carry any weight.  That's probably what happened to you.  Not only that, but anybody with half a brain knows 7000 miles is nothing to brakes unless the driver is "riding" the brakes.  As for the warranty not covering the brakes, in normal cases that's true however, if you can prove they told you the brakes were only 7000 miles old, then you might have a good small claims case.  The other dealership would need to provide you with a diagnosis and testify in your behalf.  However, in all probability, they did not do a brake job on the car and they lied to you.  Such is the standard for the Sleazy American Car Business!

Dear "Jim",  Not sure if you're trolling here or what inspired your intense response. Also not sure what made you believe we didn't inspect or test drive the car. Of course we didn't pay for a car we'd never seen or inspected. ("Per my report"...?????) And since it came certified by the dealer with all its paperwork, we were very comfortable with the purchase. Not sure what you do, Jim, before you buy a certified car from a dealer but there'd be no way for me to know the rotors were warped or faulty. Quite strange of you to assume we didn't inspect or test drive the vehicle and then write this bazaar, unfounded scolding.

You didn't even bother to check out the car BEFORE you gave them money. You gave them money before you even laid eyes on the car! As per your report, you didn't even bother to take a test drive before you gave the seller more money! Complete and total lack of common sense!!!
