Hotbuys Electronics - Ebay ripoff Sells used as new; lies New York New York
Through eBay I ordered a scanner advertized as "new in retail box." What I got was not new and not in a retail box. I was willing to assume a mistake was made, and sent it back to be exchanged for a new scanner. I then got a scanner in a retail box, but the previous owner had already written his name in the documentation--it was used as well.
When I complained, they said they would refund the purchase price AND my shipping costs on both returns (about $80). They then refused to pay for shipping. When I tried to get resolution through SquareTrade, they claimed the items sent were new (they were not) and that it was not their policy to pay for shipping (contrary to their promise to me). They also agreed to mediation, but then refused to participate, costing me another $20.
Do not trust these people.
