While we were out they changed our room to an inferior room for the second night's stay that even Manager said she wouldn't want.
Deadbolt lock did not work, murphy bed on the floor, adjoining room which was not soundproof to early risers.

When visiting bar, bartender very rude - no one waited on us or advised no cocktail waitress available. Bartender said he didn't know what hot buttered rum was and didn't have ingredients for hot chocolate and schnaaps. Later found out they have a full hot drink menu. He also overcharged us for drinks, which we realized when comparing with our friends later.

Breakfast buffet was a bag of bread and a toaster, along with some hard rolls that a young man put on platter with bare hands after cleaning off other tables.

Called Jewel C. Shilts, General Manager when we returned home as she was never available during stay. She promised refund but never got back to us and a letter to Mr. Mark Pistilli, Owner never responded to, as a few calls made later.

#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

Fri, November 14, 2008

Even though it was seven years ago, almost that this individual had a bad experience at the property I formerly was employed at. I do recall this situation as this guest was a horror to deal with, having booked a one night stay she refused to check-out, we had a convention checking in the day she was finally moved after several attempts to negotiate something reasonable. We offered to have her stay at our expense at a different hotel in town but she refused. My boss, the owner of the Hotel gave instruction that we were not to acknowlege the threats or phone calls and were not to refund her anything. The owner made this final decision and we were left no choice but to abide by it. Personally I would have refunded her for her one night stay and asked her not to book at our Hotel in the future. This kind of thing happens in this business. The Hotel Chequamegon is a wonderful property and many a guest had enjoyed their stay and the services we provided at that time.
