We booked a room on hotels.com at what we were lead to believe would be a Ramada Inn in Danville, IL. When we arrived at the hotel address very late in the evening we discovered that the hotel was no in fact a Ramada, but some no name hotel that had lost its Ramada affiliation a year ago.

The hotel itself was the dirtiest and scariest hotel that we had ever been in. First, there was off-track betting on the premises which we were not informed about. When we got into our room it was filthy-dirty towels, dead bugs, and curtains that would not close. We were simply unable to spend that night there. We were forced to drive back 3.5 hours to Chicago in the middle of the night (we arrived home around 2:30).

Hotels.com has refused to refund our money, despite the fact that the room we rented was supposed to be at a Ramada Inn and what we got was some no-name motel.
