We were looking to book a 3 star or higher hotel in Galveston, TX. We had put in a bid on Priceline for a 3 star hotel for 93.00 and were declined. So when we saw Hotwire had a 3 star in the same exact area for 87.00 we were very glad. We booked the hotel, having limited the number of 3 star hotels in that area (via expedia and priceline and yahoo travel), we knew that there were only a handful to choose from and they were all good.

Then we got a real surprise. They gave us a hotel that was, on the other sites, rated 2 stars, 2.5 at best. This was outrageous. We were sick to our stomach--what a scam! Had we wanted a 2 or 2.5 star hotel, we could have made reservations ourselves for less than 87.00 a night. It was unbelievable. I called them immediately and explained to them that this hotel was not 3 star on all these other sites. But they didn't care. They were like--it's final sorry. Nothing you can do.

I am so disgusted by this back handed way of rating hotels to get people to think they're getting something they are not. I think Hotwire should refund my money and quit this practice of offerinbg Hot Rates for hotels that are not what they say they are.
