Hotwire and Best Western Plus ripped off a woman and left her stranded on the streets. I prepaid 2-nights through Hotwire’s Hot Rate deal, but when I arrived in the early morning at Best Western Plus, I was told that the night before the hotel had cancelled my entire stay. I did not receive a courtesy call from either Hotwire or Best Western Plus about this significant change to my travel plans.  My travel predicament worsened when Best Western Plus told me that the hotel was sold out, which meant I was stranded on the streets.

My Hotwire payment receipt explicitly says that the Best Western Plus room is confirmed, and no changes are allowed. I spent an irritating two hours on the phone going in circles with the front desk at Best Western Plus and a Hotwire customer service supervisor. Best Western Plus told me the reason they cancelled my prepaid 2-night stay was because I did not call Best Western Plus to tell them about the change in my arrival time. Hotwire’s reason for still paying Best Western Plus the full amount, even though they double booked the room, was because all sales are final through Hotwire’s Hot Rate deals.

I had to contact my credit card company and open a dispute to get a reasonable resolution. Then, and only then, did Hotwire and Best Western Plus agree to a partial refund of the prepaid 2-night stay. However, I am still disputing for the full amount.
