Check Your Selection Before You Purchase

When you select a hotel from a website like hotwire.com, priceline, travelocity, obitz, etc.  you are normally given the option of the type of room and bedding you want (single, two doubles, Queen, King, etc.)

If you are not given that option then buyer beware. If it was not made as an option in your case, a simple call to the hotel after you made the reservation, to confirm that your room would indeed have two double beds would have put this issue to rest.

Please do not get it mixed up, it's not Hotwire.com that assigned you a single bed for 2 people, it's the hotel who did so, hotwire was only the portal in which you placed the reservation and that should have been able to have been rectified at the hotel itself when you checked-in. If they were unwilling to accommodate you in that request, then you should be complaining about the hotel, not the service you booked it through.

As a recommendation to travelers and yourself for the future, if it does not specify a bed type, call the hotel directly after you make your DISCOUNTED purchase through a third party site and get confirmation that they will have the proper bedding for you. Problem solved. Also, the adage a little sugar goes a long way is ohh so true, if you call the hotel and maintain a pleasant friendly demeanor you are more likely to get your request than if you were to call with a chip on your shoulder before you even spoke to someone. If all else fails, ask to speak to the hotel manager, they have the ultimate ability to make any changes at the property they manage.

Remember, these sites offer discounted rates because there are certain criteria that they perform to get you those discounted rates, if you don't like the criteria, don't use the site and book directly, but don't badmouth a company because you wanted them to get a cheaper price then when you don't get what you want go off on a rampage. Take responisbility for you own actions.

If people were just a little more proactive about their plans a lot of turmoil could be avoided.
