Complaint Review: House Of Brides

I have had a HORRIBLE experience with House of Brides (HOB) (in the midwest area) and wanted to make sure no bride ever orders from them and has to go through what I did. They have the most gowns and several locations, so they are the first place everyone in IL goes to, but brides need to be WARNED. They have horrible service and lie constantly, they always say "I don't have the power to do [whatever you are asking about]," but refuse to give you the number to the general manager or the person who DOES have any power to make a decision; instead, they tell you to write to an e-mail address but they never respond to your e-mails.... they basically ignore your problem until they know you have no time left to deal with their crap since the wedding is 2 days away and you have to come up with plan B for your bridesmaids or wedding dresses!~ Of course, now that it is too late, everyone I talk to that has ordered from HOB has horror stories like mine. Too bad they didn't tell me their stories BEFORE I ordered from HOB! I don't know how they stay in business. They have so many complaints on the Better Business Bureau (I am going to add another) and on ripoffreport.com. My bridesmaid dresses came in an did NOT look like the sample gown- HOB said it was an old sample to tough luck. It may have been the manufacturer that changed the sample- but it was HOB's responsibility to get a new sample or take the old one out of the store so people didn't buy it! We had to go to a different seamstress (and pay a lot of money) for them to get fixes just a few days before the wedding because HOB has horrible service!!!
