Complaint Review: Household Bank Visa

Household Bank Visa ripoff late fees do not go by post mark on envelope Industrial City California

We have been charged late fees for payment made 12 days prior to due date but household does not honor the post mark date. Our other mail to same area made it within 2 days.

When we contacted them they said the post mark did not matter. We suspect they purposely sit on the mail and wait to deposit so they can collect big late fees. Why else wouldnt they honor the post mark. We wish we never did business with them.

I just want to say that this complaint against Household is not at all ridiculous.

Kristina, with all due respect I disagree with your opinion. I too have been ripped off by this company. If you read some of the other posts concerning Household, you would see their mode of operation more clearly.

This is not to say that most companies operate in this manner. I personaly think Household is the exception to the rule when speaking of proper service for their customers.I seriously question their ethics and wonder about their employee turnover rate. One would have to pay me "extra" good if I were employed by this company. On second thought they could NEVER pay me enough to treat customers like that.

This is only ONE of their unfair business practices. I have several issues including one similar to this too that I am trying to settle. They have charged me late fees and other hidden fees that were not disclosed in my contract. It is also not above them to alter your payment history to their favor. And as weird as it sounds they have even screwed themselves over with the payment history they sent to me. A couple of payments that are listed are not payments I made. All I can assume is that some other innocent person is going to suffer due to their lack of care when posting payments to the wrong account.
I hope the original author of this post can put this awful mess behind them soon.

No company will hold their mail "just to collect late charges" My company does not honor post marks either... we offer a 10day mailing delay period after your due date before we assess a late charge. When we get payments here, we stamp them first and then process them, if it takes us a day or two to process them, we backdate to the date of the stamp. I can believe that it took 12days for your payment to arrive because I have seen it happen before. Does this company offer you a "grace period" and if so, are you taking advantage of that every month? If this is your first late charge, the company may waive the late charge as a courtesy.
