I am writing this report because I am an ex-collections employee for household but we did the collections for benefical finance which hh owns.

I worked there for 10 months and saw a lot of what the customers was talking about about high interest charges and collections attitudes.

I saw accnts dated by to 1998 that the customer today owes more then the orginal loan taken out. The reasons why is 1. customers who are in collections are told if you can make one pymnt or two today or this month we will bring your acctn current put rest of deliquency in back of loan what the customer dont realize is that when we do that the deliq amnt is put to the back of the loan bringing them current and out of collections but the deliq amnt also has interest and late charges if actipal added back to it also. 2. the promos560 that are offered to reduce their interest rate to 18% works like this when they do the rewrite at the benefical branch offices they pull the payoff rewriting the loan to 18% which also adds interest to it for a period of an addtional 2-4 years accured daily which sometimes raises the pymts also.Which means they are paying back even more then.

The customers are right collections emplyees are not friendly we were told we are not customer services rep but collectors who are there to get the money owed us. Also the customers are also right when they say we ask personal questions about their money we are told to ask why it wasnt paid what they spent their money on. They are also right when they say the checks we take by ph are sometimes not pulled on that date. I have seen them post to the acctns sometimes as late as 3 days later.

We were taught that it is our business to find out where the money went and what it was spent on. Dont blame the employees we are only doing what we are told to ask by hh. We are told not to be friendly. That it is not our job to talk to the customer about anything but the bill not to be sympathic or empathic with customre only to say I am sorry and then get back to the business of collecting the money.

The reason I am telling you this is because of the way hh really treats their employees says we are one big family but when it comes down to it we are just someone who is their to make them money. We have to bring in a certain figure amnt each month to get a small bonus check from them and if we dont do it every month they will consider the terminatin of your employmnt.They have now raised the amnt you have to bring in each month so high you cant meet goal. In reality we have to do some legal preps a month also plus pulling a credit burea rating on each customer once a month to check to see if they have changed address job or bought any new before or while we are talking to them.

The boss unit manager stayed on my teams back constantly if we didnt get some many checks or promises a shift. Always whining about no checks. You are under so much pressure to get checks and more so much money. We also had to talk to the customer the way they wanted us to. If we didnt we would get wrote up. I was given a choice to rezin or be terminated. I was terminated due to
the fact that the notes i had put in hadnt kept and when the customer called back my notes werent there. Their data base needs to be fixed this wasnt the first time for me or others that the notes didnt keep. It was called a policy violation by QAC and my boss. So dont blame the emplyees we are only robots doing and saying what they tell us to do. I am not going to say which of the collections centers i worked for they are all the same in policies and how u have to talk at hh.

as i previously talked about contacting hh corp office and them referring the emails back to the human resources here in london ky at hh call center. Jim McCallen talked to me today.. Criag Streem from the corp office didnt call me or email me back..



The hr director from London said we havent had any other complaints on the unit manager Jim Brown.. why didnt you tell them when you got terminated.. I told him I had already talked to his hr personnel about this harrasassment months ago and nothing was resolved to talk to other members on my team and they would vertify the harrassemnt i ws given..



He ask who i had talk to in hr I gave him her name.. I also gave him the names of the girls on my team who had saw the harrassemnt and knew he had taken away one of our breaks.. all this director had to say was I talk to the personnel officer you spoke to.. like this is going to do any good he refuses to talk to the other employees what are they afraid of ?? afraid they will find out the truth about the harrassemnt I told him I had spoken to an attorney about this all he could say is I will look further into this.. Like he is really going to do anything about it..



They are just watching and protecting their backs.. Like I said they dont give a dam about their employees all we are or were was someone to bring in money so they could get their big bonus checks each month

he had apparently forwarded it to the human resoure office here in london ky where i had worked at i got the message on my am machine but didnt call back because i recognized the number so i re-emailed this corp wig and told me i wouldnt talk to his flunky because i had already talked to them months ago about this situation they hadnt done anything or resolved the issue that i wouldnt talk to anyone there that corp office had to talk to me to resolve this. what a shame they send their flunkies to do their job

I recieved my appeal decision letter today ws turned down it stated jim brown unit manager and household ws just in terminating me due to the policy violation I spoke of in previous update. talk about a lame excuse to get rid of someone and tell untruths during hearing jim brown and household did it again screwed a person out of well deserved money. I am going to be going to my attorney now about the harrassemnt and broken labor law. I however will continue my crusade to help out people who have been wronged by household/beneficial by giving them answers to their problems or questions if i can answer them here on the bbb ripoff report. i am here for the good people who needs help.

I had my unemployment hearing by ph this past monday at 200 pm he had a woman from human resources and my unit manager jim brown on conference call with me during the hearing. dont know the results of it yet. They had sent in paperwork to try to prove i was a bad employee which didnt work. I had ask Jim Brown my ex unit manager if he had terminated another employee which i shall keep anoymous for the same so called policy violation he had terminated me on he said no which she had already told me weeks before that he had fired her on the same policy violation as he had me. the uemployment judge asked him several times if anyone else had been terminated for the same reason he sttd not to his knowledge which again was an untruth he knew of several other employees who had been terminated for the same reason. the unemployemnt judge ask the unit manager and hr personal and i quote" so the hold ball of yarn for termination her was on her notes not been saved on data base they h*o hummed around trying to think of an excuse and came up with no she also had a verbal warning. I dont know if i will get my unemployment or not but i have already talked to a lawyer about the harrassment i endured while under him for the 10 months i was there plus the broken labor law of taking away one of our 15 minute breaks during our 10 hour shift the attorney sttd i have a good case and can win if i dont get my umemplyment i will proceed with the law suit

i have hh take so much out of my payroll ck every 2 weeks for the common stock plan when i was terminted they told me in hr that it would take 4-5 weeks before i got my refund from the stock which i cancelled stock prices dropping each day.



i am now been unemplyed from hh for 6 weeks and not yet to recieve a refund ck i called them wed almost 2 weeks ago they sttd no refund ck had been issued would have to send down a request didnt say to where sttd someone would contact me within 24-48 hours this was on a wed.



Weekend went by no call i called them last monday again first time i called someone hung up on me i called back the female sttd no ck has been issued i explained i hadnt recieved no phone calls and it had been more than 60 hours she tried to say no it hasnt count the time again sttd someone would call me sttd no call. i called again today male answered ph sttd please hold and let me see if you are on the list for a ck to be sent out i was on hold for at least 5 minutes he finally came back and sttd your name is on the list for a refund ck to be mailed out i ask when he sttd the last of this week the cks should be mailed out. What a runaround i have been getting if cks are to be mailed out this coming friday then i should recieve it about next thursday we will see huh. Also when i was terminated the lady in hr sttd your health insurance ceases at midnight but the funny thing is hh took insurance preminums out of my last 2 paycks for insurance that was supposed to be cancelled at midnight.



I contacted hr about this she told me to contact payroll no refund ck been sent yet. That was 3 weeks ago i have left 3 ph messages on her voice mail since then about this and she has no yet to call me back or a ck to be sent..Talk about taking your money and keeping it no insurance but taking out money for the preminums what a rip off

I am updating my report this time using my real name I am an ex household emplyee. I worked at the London Ky. call center as a collection adj for beneficial finance which household owns.



I was asked to resign from my positon which i didnt i had the unit manager Jim Brown terminate me. The reason for termination he called it a policy violation.



I typed in notes on a customr that i had talked to and they didnt save on the database which the system was known to be faulty and not save notes before for other adj. the customr called back in and i had no notes to prove i had talked to her. He never told me any of the events of the call. This was on a wednesday.



Thursday eve he calls me at home says he needs for me to work friday instead of saturday. I went in expecting to work instead was taken to human resources for termination not allwed back at my desk to get my personal stuff he brought it to me. I found out that the following wed he terminted another girl on my team for the same problem but now they are planning on changing the database come january the adjs are in training on the new database as we speak.



I have been out of work for a month now HH is fighting my unemplymnt benefits and it took them over a week to mail out my last paymnt ck. I had stock in the company which I cancelled back in sept when i was terminated still havent recieved my refund check..



I went through 10 months of mental abuse as well as other emplyees on my team by the unit manager Jim Brown.. I had talked to hr about this and nothing was done.. I called corp office and was told they dont have a emplyee complaint dept.



I am glad hh had to settlemnt with customers some of their practices was wrong I hated having to ask customers certain personal questions which was none of our business but we were told to tell them it was.I knew what the customers were going thru having hard times but wasnt allwed to be sympathic with them.. My team worked the 4 day 10 shifts which was 1030am - 10 pm on mon, tues and wed 1130-10 and sundays 1230-10 which we were suppose to be 2 (15) minute s breaks of morn a 30 min lunch and 2 (15)min brks of eve at one point Jim Brown um took away one of our morn breaks which meant we only had one break before lunch he sttd because we were taking a extra 2 minutes sometimes of the eve what did it matter.



his boss rick crossman dept manager knew of this and didnt say a thing.. Jim Brown also had 2 pet girls on our team who didnt have to work the 10 hour shifts also took extra smokes breaks when they choose had a set schedule but came in and left when they wanted one of the girls has a sister that works in this dept as a unit manager so she got by with anything she wanted.



Back in march we had a promo called the match program for customers that was 90 days over due match paymnt for them. we were told in a meeting when it started it had to be offered only to customers 90 dod if we offered it to customers under 90 dod it was automatic termination. well shelia barrett one of his pets whose sister is an um told it to a customr under 90 dod 2 times in same call she laughed about it told Jim Brown he laughed also but she wasnt terminated or wrote up. He was alwasys telling her and the other girl about things we other emplyee sttd or about our personal problems which was none of their business. He always made sure they made their bonuses each month. Gave out large balance acctns to work but always made sure they got the biggest and the rest of us got small acctns to work..



I am seriously thinking about getting an attorney myself to file charges of harrassmnt against the um and hh.

i am an ex collections adj for beneficial finance to update my last report after they ask me to resign for no good reason which i didnt i made them terminate me the ceo send me a letter 2 weeks later just yesterday saying i just want to congradulate you on the pride you showed in working for the company and to let you know that you are in the running for the $5,000 bonus for the month of october and the end of year $10,000 bonus this is based on your performance.. what a crock of sh..t. i saved the letter it was so fake and full of bull sh.. how can i been in any chance of winning anything when hh got rid of me
