Received an Orchard Bank Credit Card. Due to this website, I cut it in two and threw it away. (Should have copied the two pieces.)
Card was never activated as required on the card.

I keep getting bills from Household and Orchard Bank, even after my ripoff report of 1/17/2003, that has my account number and all the particulars on it.

Thank you,

John

WHAT ABOUT CHARGING ANNUAL FEES ON CANCELLED ACCOUNTS?

#3Consumer Comment

Tara & other Orchard Bank personnel:
That is no excuse...well, not a good one anyway. If someone does not call to activate a card or, in my case, cancels a card eight months prior, that person should not be held responsible for paying any annual membership fees. I mean, HELLO!!! What am I missing here?
We are NOT yet or NO longer users/ members of this credit card.
This has to be illegal, and any reputable bank would not do this. There has to be something that we can do to fight this.

NOT ACTIVATING CREDIT CARD DOES NOT MEAN IT HAS BEEN CLOSED

Again, I don't understand getting a credit card with your name on it, not wanting it and just cutting it up without notifying the company. I am an employee of Household Bank and we have no way of knowing your intentions if we are not notified of such. How are we supposed to know you don't want the credit card that you have applied for? We understand that your mind can change, that's exactly why you have 90 days from the approval date to notify the company that you are no longer interested and we will CLOSE the account, send a confirmation letter to your home with no further obligation. If an annual fee was billed, it will be reversed. Simply not activating the credit card does not let us know that you do not want the card. Some of our cardmembers use their cards for emergency situations only and never activate the card until they need it. So, just in fairness please notify us of your intentions. Please don't just assume that just by cutting up the card that magically closes the account.
