This is an attempt to satisfactorily resolve an issue regarding a Best Buy Credit Card. I have never had an account directly with Household Retail Services (HRS); I did have an account for Best Buy when their credit card was issued through Beneficial National. This account was paid off in full in September of 1999 with a final payment of $46.94 paid through United Recovery Systems in Houston Texas where a Mr. Rollins helped me, the reference number was XXXXXX-XX.

As this account was being resolved through a collection agency further interest and late fees did not apply and should not have accrued.

After many hours on the phone it seems that in addition to billing me through the collection agency at my current address, HRS was mailing statements with late fees and accruing interest to an address I had not lived at since 1994.

In reply to my original inquiry to HRS (sent September 2001) I received a letter indicating there was no record of my account. I responded with more information including my social security number and shortly afterward received a collection notice from N.A.F.S. at my current address showing a balance of more than $700.00, which must include a number of late fees and compounded interest on a debt that has been satisfied.

I have disputed this debt in letters to all three credit-reporting agencies, the federal Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the Minnesota Attorney General's office.
