Purchased a refurbed HP m9350f in Nov 2009 from eCost.com and also got the SquareTrade warranty--just in case. After 3 complete Restores, the computer still wasn't working properly. Support claimed it was a software issue, do a Restore. I Restored it, added only Vista-proven compatible software--twice. Computer still didn't work properly.

I called HP Support within my 90 days from purchase date.

Only to be told -- my warranty was up in August 2009! Three months earlier! I could easily prove (and did) that I hadn't even purchased the computer until November. No matter, HP would not cover the computer repairs, nor support. (Square Trade will.)

After numerous tests, other techs came to the conclusion that, yes, the computer is seriously flawed, needs a new motherboard and perhaps it will work.

What I think happened -- the computer was sold, it didn't work, it was returned. After a "refurb" the computer was put out for sale. Sold, and returned--again--under a refurb warranty. By now, the warranty is dead.

But the computer was put out for sale anyway.

I ended up getting this unit as, at least, the third buyer. With NO warranty, even though HP promised to cover it for 90 days.

When you purchased from eCost.com, did they sell you the system stating that it had a valid active warrany from HP? If so, your complaint is with the reseller not the original.
