Complaint Review: HR National

In the summer of 2007, we were looking for a rental in Craig's List here in Las Vegas when I ran across an ad that read, why rent when you can own? HR National was advertising a pre-forclosure database you could obtain from them for a fee of $149.00. It was stated that you would have access to that database for up to date homes in pre-forclosure. If you were not satisfied, you would receive a refund after (90) days. I called the number and spoke to an account rep. She informed me that I would have to pay $149.00, or non of the information would be disclosed to me. The account rep did tell me that it was as easy as contacting the owners of the home, and take over payments. Also, that HR National would help you, and walk you through each step. So, I paid the $149.00 from my debit card, and then had to wait a few days to access their database. I did receive a database of homes that were pre-forclosures. Great! so I thought. While reading the specs on the homes I was interested, I realized that the home carried hugh past due balances. I called HR National to ask about this, and I was told that those balances had to be paid in full by me before I could take over payments. What? that was never disclosed to me.

The next step was to contact the owners of the properties. I could never find a owners phone number, or address. It was impossible to contact the owner of the properties, and HR National had absolutly no contact info what so ever. I never was able to contat any property owner. I then picked out a few house that interest me, and drove to the locations. Each one I looked at were empty, run down, and stripped.

I called HR National to ask advice on contacting the owners, how do you just take over payments? Isn't the bank going to want to know this info? Well, this is the good part. HR National told me that the owner has to quit deed this note to you, and you never tell the bank anything because the bank may then call the note due. Oh my gosh, I then wanted no part of it. Isn't that illegal?

Last but not least, I asked for my money back because this came with a money back garentee. After (90) days I mailed in the written request that was required to have my money refunded. After a couple of months, I still did not receive my refund. I called HR National, and got some call center in India, not the account rep I had talked to. I was told that this is their new customer service phone number. I could not even understand these people.

I asked where is my refund? I was told that I had to request it in writting, and I did that. Then I emailed, and faxed it to them. Still no refund after (6) months of calling, emailing, faxing, and re-mailing HR National.

In conclusion, I looked up their address, and realized it was only two blocks from my house. I drove over to this address, and it did not exist. I asked around the building, and no ever heard of them. Then I called the property management, and I was told no one by that name or description has ever rented a space. It was all a scam. To this day, I have not received a refund. Then I found this site Rip Off Reports. Please, please, beware, and warned. It is a scam, rip-off. Don't let this happen to you. Avoid HR National.
