I sent checks in the amount of $400 each in each month of Oct, Nov and Dec to cover the statements due in Nov, Dec and Jan. The following two checks sent to cover the Feb and Mar payments were in the amounts of $200. All 5 checks cleared my bank, Chase Texas.

Per the research department at Chase and the officer on my account, on Feb. 21, Chase recieved a photocopy of check 5955 in the amount of $400 which had already cleared on Oct. 30, 2001. Chase has systems in place to catch companies who submit copies of checks that have already cleared the bank.

Chase returned the photocopy and HRS charged $400 to my account claiming that it was a bounced check. My officer at Chase had never seen this happen before. The customer service rep at Chase said he's seen attempted rip-offs but never anything so blatant.

I've put together the info (cancelled checks, statement, etc.) and sent it to HRS's research area. I also sent a separate letter and copies to the Chief Information Officer at Best Buy to let him know what his vendor is trying to pull.
