I've been a member with HSBC bank card for almost two years.

In that time I've faithfully kept hte card paid on time and current. Due to a family hardship, I was not able to make a payment on time because it fell before a pay cycle and I wasn't able to make an early enough payment prior to. I scheduled a payment on line for the day my funds went in, which was three days past due. I then called them and explained my situation and asked them to please note my account that a payment was scheduled but it would be three days past.

As it turns out they charged me a late fee anyway, which pushed my balance over the limit so they applied an over limit fee. I called again and explained the situation hoping to have the get some leniency only to be treated like a child and told "well, that's what happens when you don't pay your bill on time". So out of frustration, I closed the account since it's just not worth the already outrageous anual fees they charge me for the 'privilage' of having it. Now, 12 days later, I go back to schedule my next payment and find they applied a second $30 over limit fee when my due date is 11/06?? Now my bill is almost $100 over limit just from fees. They can do that? I still haven't gotten an acceptable answer as to the nature of being charged twice in under 2 weeks for over limit fees. It's extortion and taking advantage of those of us who have had financial hardship and are trying to recover from it. I even called them and made best efforts to make things right and I'm treated like a child and simply dismissed?

BEWARE HSBC CREDIT PRACTICES! I for one will never use HSBC again for anything!
