I received a credit card offer from HSBC which stated a credit limit of up $2500 and 0% for 12 months. I accepted the offer and indicated my wish to transfer $1500 from another credit card.

A couple of weeks later, I got HSBC card and was shocked to see a credit limit of $1000. So I thought since the credit limit is $1000, they could not do the transfer of balance for the $1500. The next day I make a purchase for $250. Two weeks later I get a letter from HSBC saying that they completed balance transfer for $800. Few days later, I get another letter saying my card is over the limit.

I called customer service, it took 3 attempts to get a live person. I explained to them that the balance transfer was applied after my purchase and that HSBC changed the amount of the transfer without notifying me. I requested that the overlimit charge is credited back. I was assured it will be credited.

One week later, I check my account online and saw there was no credit. I was mad. I sent an email to their customer service, they replied saying there was nothing they can do and the will not be able to credit the $35 and suggested I contact them by phone.

First HSBC customer service lied to me by teling me I will get the over the limit charge credited. It was clearly their fault. Second, they changed the balance trasnfer amount without getting my approval first. Third they changed 0% to 12.9%. Fourth, their customer service is the absolute worst I have ever experienced with any company.
