In 2001, I had cosigned for my son to purchase a tv. The account was paid in fill in 2002. HSBC sent my son a credit card with only his name on it, and he used this card to make an additional purchase that I was not aware of at the time.

As soon as I found out that my name still appeared on the account. I wrote to them and told them to remove it as I had no knowledge of the purchase and did not authorize it. They refused to do this.

My son has fell into arrears with them when he recently lost his job and HSBC is now harassing me for payment in full even though my son has called to explain his situation and advise them that I should not be responsible for his account. They only demanded payment and threaten to continue to harass me at work and home until payment is made.

I did sign for a joint account back in 2001 and the account was pai in full prior to the 2nd purchase being made, but I think that if they want to hold me responsible then I should have been required to sign for and authorized the purchase.

I have refused to pay this account and they are now threatening legal action. Anyone else have a similiar experience?
