On 12/12/06 I sent final payment of 1823.68 to HSBC, on 12/19 they credited my account for the full payment. Then only to see on 12/29 they debited my account for payment and applied late payment fee's.
When I called they said the check was not good, so I went to the bank and had Bank of America Branch Mgr sent a letter to HSBC notifying them the funds where in my account and they never attempted to withdrawl the payment.
On Jan 26th 2007, I sent another payment of 1823.68 from another of my accounts on 2/24/07 they again applied my final payment but late fees and returned checks fee were not being removed after serveral contacts with this horriable company. I filed a complaint with Arizona Attorney General, Terry Goddard and Attorney General of Ca, Edmund G Brown Jr, they sent several letters to HSBC to clear this matter up.
On 3/30/07 HSBC then sent me a refund check for the amount of my final payment 1823.68 and debited my account once again after I got letter my account was closed and had 0 balance. Again I sent my 3rd check to HSBC to pay off my balance, but refused any of these late fee's and fee's for my balance being over my limit of $1.00.
This is going on 2 years and after contacting both Attorney Generals and filing case with Federal Trade Commission and OCC, The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, HSBC still will not remove themselves from my Credit Report. This is the only company on my credit report and now HSBC is ruining my credit history. I am seeing the effects with trying to open other accounts or loans. Be aware of when you purchase furniture or other items where the Comapny if offering interest free for several years. Please ask them who the creditor will be, you will be shocked to find out it will be HSBC. It is a shame you cant even payoff your account with HSBC and then in turn ruin your credit. Outragious!!!
