I used an internet car buying service Carsdirect.com to help find a 2008 Highlander Hybrid Limited. They were able to find one for me from Hudson Toyota on Friday Dec 21. After the terms of sale was agreed upon I received an invoice by email confirming the details of the sale and I was told that the car would be delivered to me on Thursday Dec 27. Upon delivery I would then pay by certified check. In the meantime I had made preparations for the new car ie, added it to my insurance policy, sold my old car and notified the other Toyota dealers that I been talking to that I had found a car. On Wed Dec 26 I called my contact person at Carsdirect.com if he could find out when the car was to be delivered as I had taken the next day off to be available. After calling Hudson Toyota they were told that the dealer had sold my car to someone for a higher price despite our agreement. I couldn't believe that this could happen since we had everything in writing and I only found out the night before delivery. I intend to report this to the BBB as I have documented everything, but I felt that everyone should be aware of unscrupulous dealers out there such as Hudson Toyota that price gouge and do not honor agreements on Toyota cars. Fortunately there is a happy ending and carsdirect was able to find me another Highlander 3 days later. The transaction went smoothly this time and I am very happy with the vehicle.
