My experience with the Huggins Financial Group was disappointing to say the least.
They hook you by advertising "NO PROSPECTING". Of course, they charge you $24 per lead. Jeff Huggins appears to be a very nice person who has been very successful in the insurance business. His sales pitch was very appealing. However, after they make you pay $500 to simply join the company as a 1099 agent. Then they turn you over to a man named Frank Vandersande, a successful salesman turned General Agent. He conducts all the training. You receive training to sell one product, a Universal Life Product specifically geared to the mortgage protection market. I found Frank to be extremely arrogant and incredibly pushy and rude. He didn't like answering questions, preferring to tell me to say exactly what he told me to say. He liked to say, "You don't need to think. We've done all the thinking for you. All you need to do is EXACTLY what I tell you to do."

The training seemed rushed and incomplete. In talking with others in the training class, along with a few agents who had been there for a short time, it seemed to me that very few really understood the policy we were selling. I became afraid to ask Frank any questions because of his rude and unprofessional manner.

After a couple of weeks of Frank's rudeness, I quit. As it turns out, I was typical. Most people who pay their $500 and go through the training, then start paying $24 per lead and endure Frank's rude manner soon quit. I just caution anyone considering this opportunity to BEWARE!

I have been doing business with Jeff Huggins for almost a year and have found none of the things mentioned to be true.  There is not lead fee but as an independent contractor I am responsible for my own leads and I can purchase through an outside source.  There is no $500 fee, but; I am responsible as a business owner for my required classes, state licensing fees, and insurances.  These fees are to agencies not associated with Mr. Huggins nor his company.  I have no comment about Mr. Vandersande since I have only met him once. My experience has been very positive and I look forward to doing more business with Mr. Huggins and would recommend him to my family, friends, and acquaintences.

It is unfortunate that the Huggins Financial Group is not the right fit for everyone.

Our marketing system does not require prospecting. It is a lead based system and anyone who has purchased leads before knows that $24/lead is a bargain. Also, these leads are only sold to 1 licensed agent who then has 6 weeks to work that lead. These leads are date stamped with the date they were received at our Corporate Headquarters and are very fresh.

We do, in fact, charge a recruiting/training fee to off-set our overhead in these areas. However, we have never let this fee stand in the way of a potential agent achieving the appropriate training and getting started in the field. And yes, as with most commission based positions, these independent sales agents are 1099 employees, not with the Huggins Financial Group, but with our corporate carrier.

Again, it is unfortunate that not all personality types mesh. We have had other agents, over the years, with personality conflicts with members of our management team. However, they have managed to put that aside and become extremely successful within our organization. Additionally, I make it clear to all individuals within our organization that I am always available to talk with them about issues of concern. We also hold a weekly general meeting, conducted by myself, where there is ample opportunity for anyone to raise questions and/or concerns.

Mr. Vandersande's training is a proven system that, again, several individuals have utilized with great succcess. The great advantage of our Capitalistic society is that everyone has the right to decide if they want to succeed or quit. There is a fairly accurate standard of the 80/20 rule. 20% of the people in sales generate 80% of the results. It is therefore a matter of the individual making up their mind to be part of that 20%. If you are coachable and follow our proven sales system, you will succeed with Huggins Financial Group.
