I signed up for Hughs Net "High Speed" Internet service mainly for the fact that I cannot get traditional internet service where I live. There aren't that many people that live out here where I do so the local phone and cable companies can't justify the expense of digital nodes or light spans.

After contacting Hughs Net, I reluctantly agreed to the service knowing that weather conditions adversly affect satalite signals.

Never was I told that there was a bandwidth restriction. I moved from the city to get away from the crime and traffic. I run a website and have been unable to update it since I moved here. The upload speeds are terrible, the download cap is rediculous and I can't seem to get anyone on the phone that has a firm grip of the english language.

They read from a script, which is obvious, and finally I just told them to cancel my service all together, to which they confidently replied there is a $800.00 early termination fee because I was under contract.

My question to anyone out there is this...
Even if the early termination language is in the paperwork I signed to get this installed, is there any recourse for me if the information about the bandwidth cap wasn't conveyed to me upon my verbal agreement to have the service installed in the first place. This is deceptive, misleading and unfair.

Not to mention that when it does work, it's slow anyway. Again... when it does work. The service is intermittent, slow and just crap.

My current cell provider doesn't have a strong enough signal here to provide a mobile broadband solution, so I can't even go that route at this point, unless I choose a different provider, which isn't outside the relm of possibilities, however I'd rather have nothing compared to paying an outrageous amount of money for basically nothing anyway.
