They advertise "high speed internet", but it is only slightly faster than dial up, sometimes. I was living in rural NC where DSL or cable was not available. I should have stuck with dial up because Hughesnet is not worth the extra expense over dial up.

I was promised free installation and a $200 rebate. I paid $100 at installation for the pole and never received the rebate. Customer service is the worst. They offer customer service via online chat on their website, but it doesn't work. I left the chat window open for over 10 hours just to see if anyone ever responded. They didn't.

I have tried their toll free number on several occasions and have actually gotten through 2 out of 10 times. On several occasions I got through 2 or 3 prompts and then a busy, but most of the time I was left on hold too long and just hung up. One Saturday I just put my phone down while I was holding and checked once in awhile for 2 hours until I gave up.

I recently moved and can't use the equipment or service, but I still have 4 months left on the contract. I couldn't get through to customer service on the phone, so I emailed customer service. I received a response the following day advising me that I could suspend my account for 2 months in order to possibly transfer the account, but in order to do that I would have to call customer service. The number they provided in the email was disconnected. I tried the alternative number and again received a busy.
