Hughes is advertising on tv. The over a service that is better than dial-up. This is a false advertising. I have been hughesnet internet services since 1998, when It was then called Direcway. Over the years upgrades were necessary because equipment becomes no longer under support.

My current service is a hardware and service upgrade, yet my download and upload speeds are not faster. In fact My upload speeds are slower than dial-up majority of the time, with uploads ranging from 7 kbps to 22 kbps during p.m. hours(9:30am to 12pm) and only up to 68 kbps during early am hours.

My services is supoosed to provide up to 1.5mbps downloads and 500kbps uploads with lower speeds during peak hours. I have RARELY recieved more than 50% of the promised download and only getting at the most 15% of the uploads promised. Peak hours appears to be 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. I am tied to a 15 month contract, which saved me the upgrade cost. I wonder If I had paid the upgrade costs upfront that I would have better service. I feel like a hostage.
