In July of 2013 ,I went to Hunters Bay Marine to try to purchase a steering cable for my 1975 Starcraft American 18 and was told I could no longer get this particular cable but they would be happy to sell me a new style helm and cable.I was then brought into the back room where the service manager grabbed a helm which was obviously used as it was greasy and had no box but rather lying in a bin.He then looked for the proper length of cable which he could not find .A mechanic then walked in and he stated he just removed a 14' cable from a boat they were apparently putting power steering on.I stated I would in fact take these items provided the price was reflective as being used.I then paid 380.00 plus taxes and left.

Fast forward to June 3014,my wife and I were intrested in purchasing a pontoon boat. I wanted to buy local and as I thought they had treated me fairly I made an agreement with Gord Hincks to purchase a 2014 Legend Transporter with a Bigfoot 60,trailer and full enclosure for 27000.00 and the agreement of safety equipment required to be thrown in.Gord agreed to this but also pointed out if we were to be stopped by police to inform them that the boat is actually only 19' long.

Now back to the cable and helm. When we purchased our pontoon boat,we received a Hunters Bay Marine accessories catalogue.Well lo and behold there was a complete kit consisting of helm and cable for 308.00 new.I went back with receipt and catalogue in hand.Gord tells me it must be a typo and theres nothing he can do about it.Really.

So. a couple of weeks later we are out on the water and get stopped by provincial police for a safety equipment check. Fine, I pull out my little container with flashlight, throw rope, etc. and am asked for fire extinguisher.I reply I don't have one as my boat is technally a 19'.He asks for my vessel permit and punches 6.3 meters into his phone and there it is 20.7 feet therefore I require a fire extinguisher.Iwas issued a warning.I went back to Gord and he disputed this as I have an external fuel tank.He then looked it up and sure enough there it is in print. His response to me was thank you for bringing this forward to me I will be sure to let future buyers know.

You would think after spending this kind of money ,he would have come good for that both these items considering the cable and helm did not cost them anything and he should have known it was required.I will be sure to inform Legend of his lack of knowledge concerning their product.

In conclusion I will not be returning nor recommending them to anyone.
