Hurley State Bank Complete and Total Theivery Des Moines Iowa
I had an overdue account with Hurley State Bank as a result of my divorce. When I was able to start paying it back, I went through Ameridebt to pay it back. For a while, things were ok, then in November 2001 I got a notice saying that they weren't getting payments from Ameridebt. I called them, and it wasn't that the payments just stopped, they claimed there were 5 missing months.
I contacted Ameridebt, who promptly sent me a statement of all payments made with account and check numbers. They also sent this information to Hurley State Bank twice. Hurley claimed that the money was probably in a "ghost account" , but since the account was in arrears, destroyed the documents Ameridebt sent them and sent the account to an attorney's office.
I made payment arrangements with the attorney's office, which worked for all of 2 months. My last check was never cashed, and they claim they sent the account somewhere else, and I'll be hearing something in a few weeks.
I find it incredible that they are allowed to behave this way, and are making it so difficult to get rid of this debt.
