Southern Bridal, Royal Prestige, Hy Cite, David's Bridal ripoff scam Nashville Tennessee

Southern Bridal, also known as Royal Prestige called me recently on my cell phone and left a message saying that my fiance and I had just won a honeymoon vacation. I was wondering to myself where exactly I had registered to win this, so I called them back. The lady informed me that they were affiliated with www.theknot.com and several bridal magazines. I thought about it and decided that one of those had to be where I had registered because I had several bridal magazines and I always visit theknot website. I went to google.com and looked up Southern Bridal and found this website with a report on the same thing that happened to me. One of my friends that is also getting married said the same thing happened to her. They said that I'd have to go to the Holiday Inn in Lafayette which is about three hours away from where we live and attend a presentation. The lady, named EMILY, said that we would be trying on outfits to get a feel of the bridal clothes. That we'd be trying on shoes and the such. I thought for sure that we would be going to a bridal expo to see a dress presentation, but obviously not. As I read the other reports for this company I came across David's Bridal. I bought my wedding dress at David's Bridal and they released my information to this company without my consent. I'm not sure what I will do from this point because I have ordered the bridesmaids dresses from there and they are already paid for but we have not yet received them. Thanks to Rip Off Report I will be more careful in the future. If you know anyone that this has happened to please spread the word.

Kimberly-

When I went to David's I never entered any sweepstakes, just filled in my name & address & phone number on the card. There was no place that said my info would be sold (so I had no place to tell them NOT to sell it). I was not a typical young 20 something that was caught up in the wedding stuff, I was in my late 20's and knew the scams out there. There wasn't even a form to fill out for a sweepstakes at the David's I went too.

So don't put the blame back on us! I was called a million times by these scam artists, as WELL as local businesses (DJ's, Photographers), etc, who said they got my name and number off a list. I never went to any bridal shows, and David's was the only place I had gone too and gave out anything besides my name.

David's will never be recommended by me or my friends who had the same experience!

You did consent to David's Bridal

#4UPDATE EX-employee responds

My name is Kim and I am an ex- employee of this company. Although I do not agree with alot of their procedures, I do see a flaw in your complaint.

When you went into David's Bridal's, did you happen to pass one of those ballot boxes that said, " Enter for your chance to win a free honeymoon vacation"? If you had read the fine print on the sweepstakes entry card it says that you will be contacted by a participating bridal regisrty.

That is how you gave David's Bridal authorization to distribute your information. You gave your address and other info for your chance to win. If you think you were done wrong by anyone, look at fault in yourself for not reading everything you sign your name to.
