I purchased a 2014 1500 watt electric scooter (with off road tires) from www.hyperpowersports.com in 12/2014. When I got the scooter the light was cracked so I contacted them and they offered to send a new light.  I said I did not use the light so asked them if they could send me another charger which costs about the same as the light. They did and I was happy....until.....

I started to use the scooter and discovered it was constantly blowing fuses (30 amp).  I would ride it for a couple of blocks and the fuse would blow.  I would then have to wait for the wires (which were super hot) to cool before I could install a new fuse and ride it again.   I was rarely able to take it more than a couple of blocks.  I dealt with this issue for a while (I was busy and did not have the time to address the scooter issues) then contacted the seller (still within warranty period) who told me to use a 40amp fuse.

I put in the 40 amp fuse and that seemed to work but the wires got so hot the plastic housing that held the fuse started to melt and the wires were hotter than ever!  To make things worse, the scooter started making a loud noise that sounded like it was from the motor and then would just suddenly shut off for no reason.  When I checked, it was fully charged, and the fuse was OK.  This was ALL in the first month of ownership!

I contacted the seller again, and they were not helpful at all and basically just blew me off. At that point I planned on just brining it in to a local shop to see if they could repair these three issues and put the whole matter to rest.

However, I had to put the matter on hold b/c I was having construction done to my home/garage and needed to put my items (along with the scooter) in storage until this week.  I brought it home from storage and decided to check it out myself and take it apart in hopes I could find something wrong with it and repair it myself.  I took the batteries out, checked all the wiring and thought some wires looked loose so I tightened the connection.  I replaced the fuse and put it all back together.

I took it for a test drive and the scooter was making the same loud noise, stopped on me twice in three blocks then the fuse blew..once again I was walking it back home.

The scooter has NEVER worked properly for me and I reported all the issues to the seller within the warranty period...several times.

After talking to some shops, I was told that I could end up spending a couple of hundred dollars just trying to find the problem! Being very upset I contacted the seller again.  He said I could return the unit and after he inspected it would give me a partial refund.  WHAT?? The unit NEVER worked right and he knew it from the point and time I took delivery!  Why should I end up losing money on this when I paid for something ($600!) that should have worked properly?

I said I would settle for nothing except a full refund or a scooter that worked correctly.  He said he was going to report me to e-bay (which I could care a less about) b/c I told him if I don't get satisfaction I am going to share my story online.  I knew I was on my own at this point.

I understand that with mass produced units like this there will be defective ones and that of course does not make the seller a bad guy.  However, how the seller handles matters like this is critical.  If you buy from this company consider the transaction done and over the moment you pay for the item and accept delivery as they will not stand behind their product in my opinion.

As a business owner I understand that sometimes you have to take a loss and stand behind your product/service to do right by the customer.  This company does not get that so BE CAREFUL if you purchase from www.hyperpowersports.com b/c trust me, you DO NOT want to go through what I am going through now.

HyperPowerSports was very responsive to me

I went through the same frustration with 2 new electric scooters purchased from HyperPowerSports that broke down within 2 weeks.  The wire connectors from the controller to the motor heated up such that they melted other wire connectors causing an electrical short.  The controller essentially shorted out as a result on both scooters.  However, I was intent on getting the issues addressed (now having two of them) and worked with the owner - Rick. The replacements controllers that were sent to me did not work and added to my initial frustration now having two new scooters that didn't work and two replacement parts that also didn't work. But the issue came from the manufacturer (not Rick) as they changed the wiring on their replacement parts.  Two wires were crossed and neither Rick nor I were aware of it. Once we discovered what the problem was, and we reversed the two wires in question, I got both scooters working.

I liked them so much, and was impressed with Rick's stamina and effort to resolve, that I purchased 3 more for a total of five 1500 Watt 48 volt electric scooters purchased from HyperPowerSports.  The electric scooters are very different from gas powered scooters and there is a learning curve using and working on them.  Once that learning curve is down pat, these are simply the best scooters available (in my mind).

I am not connected with HyperPowerSports in any way and live in the northeast.  And like this buyer I was so frustrated at first that I wrote simply awful reviews not giving the owner (Rick) an opportunity to addres the issues I was having. And when he did attempt to address them, he was just as confused as I was since the manufacturer elected to change their wiring diagram unbeknown to HyperPowerSports (or to me).  I regret that now as I am very happy with the product and service and realize that the owner (Rick) was actually doing everything he could do at the time.  I was just to upset to give him the opportunity to work through the issue at the time and unfortunately took to pen.  However, my purchase of 5 of these scooters must say something to my level of satisfacton with the product and seller.
