My husband and I were already planning a vacation to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, when he got a fax at work from I.R.R. Inc. They made it seem like a good deal and said that it would be at upgraded locations.

The first amount was $650 and was supposed to include everything except for taxes. The taxes were not to exceed $99 a person. Then they said that all of the hotels were booked except for the cheapest one. This one wasn't on the ocean even though they said it was going to be ocean front property.

Then they wanted an additional $300 because it was peak season. They should have known it was peak season when we originally told them the dates we planned on staying in Mexico.

Then they wanted another $200 for an upgraded room because supposedly all of the other rooms were booked. After they received the money they sent an email saying we had to go to a time share meeting or our trip wouldn't be paid for.

I tried to call back and talked to Jazmine who was no help at all. All she was willing to do was send us to Cancun instead of Pueto Vallarta because apparently Pueto Vallarta was considered upgraded. Who wouldv'e known this is what they consider upgraded.

I am livid with all of their lies and am planning on taking some sort of legal action against the company. If anyone knows how to get back the money they took from us please let me know.

Like Janelle my husband and I were simply trying to have a nice and relaxing "get away" vacation and not have to bust our budget to do it. The same promotion from I.R.R. came to my friend's work and she thought it was a descent deal, since Mexico markets itself as a budget friendly country to visit. She purchased the 5 night/6 day Cancun Vacation for $777 and found she could not use it and paid an additional $35 to transfer the vacation to our name.

I contacted I.R.R. recently to reserve the Cancun vacation and worked with Nicole (who was recommended by my friend) to have her explain what we needed to do reserve the vacation. At that time she explained that all we needed to do was mail in the reservation form along with the required $99 per person for taxes and gratuity along with our travel dates. Not once did Nicole tell us about peak season fees, upgrade fees, mandatory times share attendance, etc. She simply gave me resort suggestions in Cancun but highly recommend the nicer locations. It was not until I contact Nicole today to reserve the vacation and she explained that there was a $200 peak season fee and $300 upgrade fee (for the resort she suggested). I was so disappointed, but more importantly I became very suspicious.

The resort that we were going to reserve, Sandos Caracol in the Mayan Riviera (just south of Cancun) can be purchased through a well known travel website for $236 per night for the same travel dates. The point is that I.R.R. did not offer any special travel discounts for Mexico locations after all. The same destinations can be purchased through more reputable travel company for less.

Today a Supervisor from I.R.R., Remy, offered us no comfort with the way this vacation was represented, or should I say misrepresented. She kept referring to the documents that my friend initially signed regarding no refunds, upgrade fees and peak season fees. Once this vacation was transferred to our name the company's representative, Nicole, should have reiterated their policies again and not blame my friend who initially agreed to the terms. After looking at the I.R.R. literature the instructions for reserving this vacation was not explicit about when the peak season was for Cancun, the upgrade fees or resort choices. It is companies like I.R.R. that make people untrusting of others and not want to visit countries that need tourism for their economies to survive.

Unlike Janelle and her husband, we did not pay the additional $500 and feel very fortunate that we did not. Plus, after reading all the other feedback on the I.R.R. company, had we been told after all additional fees were paid that we were required to attend a 90 timeshare sales speech or else a fee was imposed.... we would have been livid! Just went through the hard sell in Mazatlan in summer of 2007, what a nightmare! Sometimes people just want to go on a vacation to relax and enjoy the area, food and culture without being hassled! Someone with legal experience with companies like I.R.R. should initial an investigation on the business practice of I.R.R.R, Inc. of Fern Park, Florida.... shame on you!

Vacations To Go

I also found out that all three charges at our bank were through different places. One of these places being vacationstogo.com. I'm not sure how they are linked, but would be leery of vacations to go also.
