I am a graduate of IADT- Pittsburgh. I graduated in 2005 from the Visual Communications Program. I was lied to from the start about many things.

First off I was told that I would recieve a laptop because of the program I entered. I was also told that I would have housing set up for me, which was great since I came from out of state. I was also told that the school had a great campus. This is all a lie!

When I got to the school in July 2004 I went to ask about getting my laptop, I was then told that only the IT students get a laptop and if I wanted one I would have to take out another loan.

Then comes the housing situation, it was one week before classes started and I was still in Ohio, when I called to see about my housing I was told that they couldn't find me any. I had to look on my own and lucky found somewhere 2 days prior to starting school. I lived 45 minutes away and had to take a bus to the middle of Pittsburgh which I knew absolutely nothing about. And for the record there is not a campus, the school is located on the 5th and 4th floors of a hotel.

I will admit that I did have wonderful teachers and most of them did know what they were doing. But all the classes were geared towards the "stupid idiots" that shouldn't even have passed high school. I spent many days just sitting around in a 2 hr class waiting for something to do.

The teachers were forced to accomodate the students that didn't even care to be there. I had an experience where one student was complaining to the teacher that he was failing. The teacher told him that he needs to show up and do the work and the student responded with "I don't have an alarm clock." Well the teacher bought the student one and he still didn't come to class, and somehow in some way that I can't understand the kid passed!

I now have an Associates Degree which is useless bc to tell the truth I didn't learn much while I was there. Out of all of m classes I learned from 3, I have no clue how to do any animation or web page developement. Most place won't hire without a Bachelors Degree and most colleges won't accept the credits from IADT.

So after 40,000 dollars in loans for that suppossed school, I have debt that I can't afford to pay and no job to show that I can do what I went to school for.

A very close friend of mine even had money stolen from him that he should have received for financial aid. When he told them that he would contact the media it mysteriously appeared in the mail after he graduated.

I think the school is a scam and I advise NO ONE TO ATTEND IADT. I feel that the school should be held responsible for paying back my student loans. I didn't learn anything I thought I would and it was a total waste of time.

This will probably be good news to those who felt that IADT-Pittsburgh has wronged them. According to Reuters, Career Education Corporation (CEC), IADT's parent company, announced that they will be closing down the IADT - Pittsburgh campus. The last class that they're graduating is in December 2008.
