I have been a memeber for way too may years for them to start to simply take fees because they can.  I made a deposite on 8/22/2017.  Came to work on 8/23/2017 in the morning deposit showed no other activity.  Nothing came in 8/24/2017 my account was debit $32.00 for a return check fee. Now the money was already there the day before.  I look at my account and I see they took the money on 8/22 and the check didn't come in until 8/23.

Now I do know I stopped all my direct deposits to this account on 8/21/2017.  I feel they don't take care of the long time customers and they won't approve any loan request (Car).

I decided to take my business elsewhere so I guess this is pay back for me.  I sent them an e-mail (2) and to this day I have not received any response from them at all! They have the nerve to charge you for banking with them.

Won't be banking with them any more!

I did optain a car loan from another institution.  I was making a point as to being a memeber in good standing for all these years!

It's done! I am done! I've moved on and my expectations won't be any higher for a credit union than it is for a bank!

Doesn't Change Anything

Because you made the deposit after 5pm on the 22nd and into the ATM, the transaction remains as pending until the evening of the next business day (the 23rd in this case).  The rules regarding the immediate availability of cash do not apply when the deposit happens after business hours and into an ATM.  The rest of the scenario I described happened, and...you have an overdraft fee.  Now, if you had made your cash deposit in person at the CU prior to the institution closing on the 22nd, then all of the cash would have been available immediately on the 22nd and the overdraft fee would have been avoided.  Nonetheless, if you had gone into the CU last weekend as a customer, and explained what happened regarding the overdraft, the CU would have reversed the fee; no question in my mind they would have.  If you are no longer a customer, then this is no longer an option.

CU are not obligated to provide car loans to their members.  Unfortunately, the number of years of membership in a CU do not accord you additional priviledges for obtaining a car loan.  A CU makes business decisions just like any lending institution, generally based on credit, and sometimes other considerations, and if you were turned down for a car loan, there was a reason, and the reason at this point is not important.  That was the point I was making - not whether it was used or not, or whether it was an out of state purchase or not.  It happens.  It doesn't exclude the possibility of obtaining a loan from the dealer, or obtaining the loan elsewhere.  It's not personal....

Best of luck to you....

It Doesn't Work That Way

The systems both banks and credit unions utilize do not discriminate for those who have been members for one day or 40 years; each member is treated equally, and it should be that way.  If a system were to discriminate in any way, then you can have any employee rig the CU's accounting system for the wealthy, or for those who know the CU manager, or for any possible situation.  It would represent a system in which someone could inflict personal financial damage on another person; such a system could never pass an annual external audit of the bank's financial systems.  By treating every account equally, the system performs its programming without regard for favoritism of any kind.

In reviewing the post you initially made, the scenario causing your overdraft fee is simple to see.  After work, you went to the bank after 5pm and deposited a check in the ATM on 08/22/2017.  The check you deposited would remain as pending and not available for your use all through 08/23/2017.  The check overdrawing your account was also presented on 08/23/2017 while your deposit was still pending and unavailable.  The overdraft fee would show on the morning of 08/24/2017 and your deposit would also show as moving from pending to posted (and available) late evening of 08/23/2017.  Having said all of this, if you had gone into the CU as a customer and requested the fee be reversed, the CU would likely have reversed the charge for you.  As you are no longer a customer, that option is closed to you...

CU cutomers get turned down for car loans for a variety of reasons.  Recently, it happened to me because I was trying to buy a used car out of state.  Had nothing to do with my credit; just that they don't finance a used car in a private party sale.  When you get turned down, it isn't a personal thing.  It just is.

Best of luck to you....

I am that important! You saying it makes me understand you don't consider yourself important! WOW!

The money was there on 8/22 I have the receipt to prove it! Why was it not on my account the very next morning? When I checked my account 8/23 it showed my new balance and the check had not hit! I would not be here if the check had hit before I made my deposit! I am not ashamed to admitt if the money was not there on 8/22.  Mistakes happen! It just didn't happen on my end!

You are simply ugly and nasty with your opening statement!

Banks don't just start taking fees because they feel like it or out of some "revenge" for you closing an account. You just aren't that important...sorry.

The "Returned Check Fee" was charged because a check was returned.  This was most likely for insufficient funds.  The check wsa most likely submitted on 8/22 and rejected, and then on 8/23 resubmitted and not rejected which is when you will see it.  Nothing out of the ordinary.

As for the auto loan.  If you don't meet their lending criteria you don't get approved for a loan.  Being a customer will sometimes get you a better rate, but rarely has an effect on approval.  But if approval for an Auto Loan is your main criteria to chosing a bank, you perhaps  should apply for the loan before you open the account.

As for them getting back to you. Based on your dates this happened and when you posted this report you have given them only a few business hours to repspond.  If this was that important to you why didn't you CALL them?

Perhaps when you do talk to them they may waive the fee (if that is what you are looking for).
