During the winter of 2007-2008 I became a member of IceShanty.com, a website dedicated to the sport of ice fishing, including Ice reports of local lakes and ice fishing tips. After a short time I found new friends and new information and began to rely on the website for information and Ice reports.

To those unfamiliar with the sport, here in Pennsylvania as well as other states the ice is sometimes not thick enough to be safe, the reports aid in the safety of navigating such lakes.

The IceShanty forum included all kinds of members from all states, some of the postings were "off key" I never posted anything rude, obnoxious or used any type of profanity. I came across a post of someone looking for information stating that they have been unable to find info. on the IceShanty site. I posted the url of another ice fishing site and found the post deleted.
I then posted "smooth editing, smooth mods on here" and was banned from using the forum.

I later found that the IceShanty moderators had a "problem" with the web site I had mentioned, apparently several members had been previously banned and began their own web site, I had no knowledge of this and as a matter of fact the site that I had mentioned is where I found IceShanty.com
in the first place.

I was never warned or contacted even though I have sent an email to the IceShanty.com email address.

To make matters worse, I attempted to, and was able to get into a live "chat" on the IceShanty website, I asked for a moderator and said I was looking for information regarding my being banned. A person who showed up as "bobberstopper" said that he was a moderator, and only he and "Scott" could ban users from the forum. Before I could type anything else I lost the chat, and had to refresh several times, I managed to get back on and found the "bobberstopper" person typing "LOL LOL LOL" . Apparently he had booted me from the chat and decided to play games with my IP address.

My suggestion is to stay away from this website, this is discrimination, and tom foolery.
