Back in August 13, 2005

I came into work and my main team boss said that the VP of Sales spoke to him about our conversation about a possible deal for a client and told me twice that we only deal with small charities and he only told me once and I understood him and he says that I didn't On top of telling me that I didn't conform to IDC standards and he terminated me.

That's false and I have the whole conversation for the past 2 days.

All I did was give the sales guy an idea for a possible client that has the money and said he's ready to move to the next step with IDC who fundraises for non profits.
I was with 20 other trainees 7 months ago and now there's barely a handful and that's pathetic and not normal but a trainer told me it is.

If you look at my progress reports, you'll see my progress for 4-5 months.

And to not allow me to go get my things is not right.
I have every right to do what I please with my things and not them.

There are quite a few pissed off people at this boss Jeff Mielke because the way this guy treats people.
From the people I have spoken to about him, don't really enjoy working for him because his personality sucks as well as other policies of IDC.

Another caller, told me the one day he copped some pissy attitude about getting off the floor while he wasn't punched in.

Another team boss got on my a*s one day about an intro of a script that was harmless for The Ocean Conservancy and all day a communicator right next to me was saying the same d**n thing and he was right there and said not 1 word to her and told me that he probably didn't hear her, but we have a wall between us at the desk within a foot with more noise and he can hear me clearly??.

People I've talked to at IDC feel its more that's going on here This guy also told me that I was fragile and asked me what should he change in his personality in a meeting.

Where's the courtesy gone in some business today ?
My team boss Burrell told me that I could go to HR against him about some things he said towards me that were grounds for harassment.

Like if I do something negative that he'll squash me like a bug and treating me like a d**n kid.

And Jeff, the Sr Acct Exec, this guy had it for me from the get go. Talking like some jerk off the street not to challenge his integrity.. These 2 guys treat people like in a military institution and people in this town don't like that. They want to work in a stress free environment
We bust our butts to give these guys nice seats to sit their butts on and we get treated like peons? That's why so many people are depressed Jeff always asks our team if we have gripes or rumors, etc and noone for months had spoken because they don't feel comfortable with him around. HECK, CHRISTINA HIS SECRETARY QUIT HIM BECAUSE SHE WAS FRUSTRATED BY HIS LACK OF APPRECIATION FOR HER WORK. I KNOW THIS AS A FACT I HEARD IT WITH MY 2 EARS

Sam, a caller on another team got a $100,000 pledge and all he got was a pat on the back. That's crap It's aggravating enough to be getting piss a*s wages after busting your a*s for 7-8 hrs. And the thing is I had nothing against these people in the beginning It really doesn't surprise me now because I've been in phone rooms before At first I thought different That this was a place that I could probably stick with for awhile Even veterans have told me their frustrations with new policies and attitudes of these people How they liked it the old way
People I spoke to from other teams won't even work for him because of his personality My 6 month review was a joke from another team manager, Darla who had mostly negative things to say after the fact I brought these guys almost 200 grand. THERE ARE QUITE A FEW PEOPLE AT IDC THAT HIGHLY RESPECT ME AND I HIGHLY RESPECT THEM AND THEY'LL TELL YOU FROM THE SECRETARY ON DOWN

This Jeff character even accused me of something I didn't do and later verified I had nothing to do with it but failed to apologize for treating me like if I was in the wrong. Its a tough business and I was surprised I did ok and got 600 pledges for 150 grand

No matter the outcome, I will persevere until I find my rightful place on this earth to make it a better place, one step at a time

How do I start?

Well, a month ago was not good for me

First of all I will start with what happened over a Saturday work day with me last month and Team 3 concerning an incident involving prospect cards.
I came in like always and looked at the table and my name was on a stack of Columbus State University cards, so how I normally get started with my work day is I organize my stack into 3-4 different piles:
Call Backs & ReSchedule's
Donors, Lapsed and Long Lapsed on top of non donors
Usually 10 minutes before I start calling
That Saturday happened to be a day in which I saw many CSU last liner cards for quite some time, which a client pays for either 5 or 10 call max.
I made 2 pledges from the first stack I believe with I believe almost 10 no pledges by the time of lunch time at 12pm with many of the others being NAM's and NA's which are people I didn't get ahold of.
Just before or just after that stack I asked an assistant for another stack of cards and was given another stack of CSU cards to call, which I believe were $300 non donor first liner cards, which most happened to be NAM's/NA's
That issue has been resolved even though Jeff Mielke felt strongly that I was at fault with a little apology from Mr Burrell rather than himself.

CCM's{Team managers} say that people have told team 3 management that I went to the card box a lot -
I went to the card box to see what cards were available and sizes without touching cards, when I went to sharpen my pencil or when I ran out of cards.
That one Saturday I took a glance at the schedule sheet for what cards I was to call
CSU, US Military Academy and I believe The Ocean Conservancy were on that list - not necessarily in that particular order
Now Jeff said that I was to do TOC that day and was told that these other campaigns were fall backs for other campaigns we were getting negative results with that day, which at the time usually if I get 10 no pledges on a campaign with 0-1 pledge that I was to stop and change to another campaign but if I had 2 or more pledges that I could keep going until I reached 15-20 no pledges, depending on my pledge rate that day and have had over 30 no pledges with 6 pledges one day and even had 82 specials in one day without any hassle with Darla.
Which they want at least 5 per hr

AS PER LYNNE, my trainer AS WELL AS BOTH DARLA AND AL IN THE PAST
Which Mr Burrell commented You notice that she's not training anymore
I thought she was and wondered why she wouldn't be as I thought she did fine and of the 21 trainees only a handful of us are left and most of us are doing fine.
Anyway. I got to thinking a week later and I may be wrong but to my understanding neither Pam, an assistant nor I were at fault unless we were specifically told to do other campaigns, which I was right.

Now while on this issue Jeff Mielke had mentioned that I don't listen to instructions or directions as per team 3 management.
Well, I think that the records and facts speak for themselves as if you look at all my past reports of 6 months that IDC staff has put together that I have made many, almost 600 pledges with at least of the campaigns I were calling having high processing rates over 6 per hr from a month after the time I started including that I left all calls with a positive feeling in the member INCLUDING MOST OF DARLA AND PAT'S REPORTS till 3 months ago when things started dropping rapidly when the TOC system started changing with various reasons.

I studied and researched my work for 3-5 hrs per day after work and 30 minutes in the morning before work and even on days off, just so I could get better at my job and to benefit the clients, which is the main goal, correct?
On my breaks and lunch and 30 minutes prior to job commencement I studied what campaign I was to do for that day along with studying sales from a book I have always read for 15 yrs on/off, How to master the art of selling from Tom Hopkins, National sales trainer
People have even commented to me that I was always reading
On top of that I came in with a positive attitude and enthusiasm no matter what campaign it was
You see how passionate and dedicated that I am to anything that I do.
I treat my other jobs the same way and you have to be prepared to go to battle like military pilots go to battle in war, with all they know and with all the resources that are available to them.
I also held the door for my fellow IDC comrades most days, from which I was always praised from others and have assisted my fellow team 3 communicators with things they ask me to help them with that I was able to help with.

We were told by Al Burrell when I first saw the next trainees come to team 3 that we are able to mentor them, which is what I had done.
And recently was told that I was doing that as if it was a negative thing to do.
This is on top of the many hrs performing my volunteer work for child abuse and neglect meeting my 1 yr anniversary last month, from which the founder will tell you how I am working for her.

That's all I have to say about myself on a personal level
I don't take much personally but take things to heart which I will always defend and back myself up, from what I believe as I have 20+ yrs of work experience in Las Vegas and know that Vegas can be a cruel place to live and work where wolves are ready to pounce on you at any moment for anything.

ISSUES WITH TEAM 3 CAMPAIGNS:

Ok, on a personal level I am very passionate and dedicated toward all campaigns I have worked on including those that are not doing so great
veteran callers have expressed how great I am with my past pledge rate with my mentor stating that I am a superstar in the making and that I am great with non military campaigns and should stay away from military.

I came to IDC with an open mind even when quite a few people have given me negative this and that about policies and staff, schedule changes, etc.
I have learned that you are not to hate others and to try to get along with everybody, but we all know that can be a big task alone.
I had appreciated my work and have amazed myself also at times
I mean I don't know many people who bring in 12 pledges for Mercy Health/17 pledges for Loudoun Health/22 pledges for CSU in 1 day and $150,000+ in 6 months, including veterans that don't do military campaigns, except a few.
I have mentioned that people want us to be short, sweet and to the point and veterans all had agreed with me, especially if prospects read the letters.
As far as monitoring goes, I have been a monitor myself and even though it might be stated that it's a tool for communicators, many feel nervous when they are monitored and feel uneasy for working for such companies.

MILITARY:
I have deep respect and admiration for the military and know quite a few service men and women and at one time wanted to get into the Coast Guard years ago and also read in high school all about flying and helicopters and war planes..
But 2 months ago I was told by Mr Burrell that I don't know a f**kin thing about the military and was somewhat irked by how that was said to me as if it were against me personally but wonder why would I be put on those campaigns if he thought that negatively about me.
WHICH SOMEWHAT HAD BEEN RESOLVED

I know Al to be a kind and genuine as well as brilliant man and has helped me a lot and think he is a great manager not to forget a hard worker and decided to brush that off and not take it to heart too much.
Mr Burrell had been great to me during my time at IDC and said at one point that he would even go to battle for me(Which made me wonder why he would say that as that was never told to me from any manager), but am sure there is probably reasons.
Darla had been great as well to me and am grateful for her assistance and feel similar towards her but regret not having the interaction with her that I did with Mr Burrell.

TOC:
Having experts is one thing, but IDC still has many people not interested in participating and the new script talks very little of who they are and people want to know at the beginning who you are and why you are calling on top of a detailed map of where their money is exactly going.
You can't say you are with the Ocean Conservancy if their caller ID says Goodworks and people say that you are working at IDC.. Then you throw prospects off.
I've spoken to other veteran communicators about their thoughts and experiences with the new scripts and have told me that they have had a rough time of dealing with them and didn't know where to go with them and still get the same results.
We brought in 25 pledges one day because more people of course worked the campaign combined with timing and luck of the draw as they say.
And Darla told me they had over 100 people one time call on that client and did bad.
You know that and I know that and veterans have told me in the past that they get used to pitching a certain way for months or years and then get told to change their way and they get into problems.
NOONE IS PERFECT AS WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES HERE AND THERE
I have heard from veterans also that brought in millions in pledges that it is mostly luck and timing with the cards
AL DOESN'T ACCEPT THAT

6 MONTH REVIEW:
Was told that I show a lack of ability or willingness to deal with multiple tasks & that I fail to take input from management - ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS LOOK AT MY PRIOR REPORTS & SEE MOST ARE POSITIVE WITH POSITIVE NOTES AS THOSE ARE MY WITNESSES, SO I MUST BE DOING THINGS TO IDC/CLIENT STANDARDS FOR AT LEAST 80% OF MY STAY

It was also stated that I had failed to use discretion in sharing info with others and are waning to make sound decisions -
MY GOSH, I SPENT MY WHOLE CARTRIDGE OF INK FOR TEAM 3 CAMPAIGNS TO EVERYONE'S KNOWLEDGE FOR 5 MONTHS UNTIL I WAS TOLD THAT WAS EXCESSIVE AND AGAINST THE RULES?
TO BE TOLD BY NOT ONLY AL BURRELL BUT DARLA AS WELL FROM THE GET GO THAT WHAT I DID WAS GREAT AND VERY HELPFUL AT THE SAME TIME GETTING THE SPIRIT AWARD FOR DOING SO (MENTIONED TO ALL IDC COMMUNICATORS) ONLY TO BE WRITTEN UP BY DARLA MONTHS LATER?
AND I HAVE ALWAYS GONE TO MR BURRELL WHEN I HAD INFO, COMPLAINTS OR CONCERNS BECAUSE I THOUGHT HE WAS MY IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR
SO TO GET A 1 FOR JUDGEMENT AND COOPERATION IS INSULTING AS I HAD GIVEN 110% TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITIES WITH BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS WITH 2 MONTHS OVERTIME

It was stated that my initiative in overcoming objections is weakening -
ALL I HAVE TO SAY TO THIS AND I TOLD DARLA IS THAT LATELY WITH MOSTLY TOC AND CSU PROSPECTS HAVE HUNG UP AFTER STATING AN OBJECTION AND THE ONLY WAY TO GET AROUND THAT IS TO CALL THEM BACK AND THAT IS AGAINST IDC AND CLIENT POLICY AND IS COMMON SENSE THAT MOST PROSPECTS WOULD GET PISSED AND HOW CAN YOU REBUTTAL SOMEONE WHO CAN'T AFFORD $25 PER YR? $10 isn't going to help anything

I wished this didn't have to end on a negative note but I need to be involved with activities that are benefiting me in order for me to succeed;
GETTING HANDED TOC WAS THE WORST THING TO HAPPEN TO ME AT IDC EVEN THOUGH I AM 100% FOR THEIR CAUSES AND EVER SINCE MY PLEDGE RATE HAS FALLEN CONSIDERABLY.
BUT TO COME TO ME MONTHS LATER AND QUESTION MY ABILITIES AND WRITE ME UP FOR 1 OR 2 CALLS/PLEDGES AFTER BRINGING IN 600 PLEDGES WITH ALMOST $150,000 AND ONLY 2 BOUNCING BACK IS MIND BOGGLING TO ME

Thank you for your time
