I checked my account New Years day and noticed a $29.95 transaction to a IDOnLock.com so I immediately called my bank which then transferred to me to their fraud division but because of the holiday this place was closed so my bank asked me to call back today, January 2nd, 2009.

The 3-wayed me to their customer service dept but I somehow got disconnected from my bank so I spoke to the person myself and explained that I had received a charge to my account which I had not authorized; it was obvious that I was not dealing with someone in the U.S. I had to verify information that I was not comfortable doing because I had NO idea who these people even were.

I explained that I had never sought out this company nor had any idea who they were, his response was that they advertise through places, such as cash advance sites, then I realized that's how they must have obtained my information because I've used cash advances online before; however I've never willingly signed up with any of those advertisers so I demanded my $29.95 but he said that there wasnt anything that I could do that the fee was a one time and non-refundable charge that made me even more angry!! He tried to explain to me what their services would offer me but I had absolutely zero interest and told him so. I said, I dont want to know because I have no interest in this site; I just want my $29.95 credited back to my account. In the end I was able to cancel this "membership", he gave me a reference number and for my trouble he said that he would be sending me a $100 gift certificate via email with "no strings" just for my trouble.

Now does that make sense to you? Why would you give someone $100 for free but not credit them back $29.95. It all seemed shady to me!! When I was done with the phone call I called my banks fraud dept again and filed a report with them, they couldnt guarantee that I'd get my money back but we'll just see about that!!! Anyone out there signing up for cash advances be weary because this can definitely happen to you!
