I ordered the IGIA trimmer from tv. It said that if you order at that time, I was to recieve a head towel, a magnified mirror and the trimmer and if I called right then, they would throw in a second set for free.

I got it in the mail but only had 2 trimmers, nothing else. I called them and their excuse was, I was supposed to tell them that I wanted the free stuff and that it was explained to me. Not true. Nothing was said in the conversation. They told me I could send it back, but they would not give my shipping and handling charges, which was around $11. So I have to pay for their mistake. And to top that off, the trimmer doesn't work right. It is a piece of junk.

Former employee//helpful tips

#2Consumer Suggestion

Tue, March 16, 2004

As a former employee of the third party customer service/shipping warehouse for IGIA (headquartered in New York, New York), I am all to familiar with the nature of complaints concerning free products that are not really free, shipping and handling that is more than the product cost, and the list goes on.

Because my company contracted with IGIA, our instructions from IGIA and from management were that S&H is non refundable, customers must pay to return product, and product cost less shipping and handling is all that will be refunded even if the package is received back in our warehouse -- return to sender packages, and packages with no proof of return are often not received, or lost in the warehouse (you have no proof that you returned it). Of course it costs significantly more to return the package via a trackable method.

Based on my experience as a 2 year employee, my advice is simple. DON'T ORDER PRODUCTS FROM IGIA. They are poor quality at best, and will open you up for a long battle in which you probably won't find vindication short of a lawsuit. It's just not worth it.

The way to close down a company like this, as many of you stated you would like to do, is to not order anything from them online, through a third party, through the TV, or anything else. Tell all of your friends and family not to order anything.

I've had experience with almost all of their products that were offered during my employment there and none of them were as good as advertised, many were worthless, and when the worthless products were not selling, they came out with a new and improved version of the same worthless product.

It's very hard for customers to get in contact with the office in NY. The customer service office in Reno is powerless to help you because they don't even work for IGIA directly, so if you order anything your going to be in for a long battle if you want your money back.

I wish I remembered the direct line to NY, although the people who answer the phone there were nasty to us, so I know they probably won't treat you any better...if they even answer the phone. Bottom line, they make their money regardless of whether you like the product, because you will not get all of your money back, and they won't spend any to help you return the merchandise.
