Complaint Review: IHOP

I have been working at this restaurant for some time now, but I am not a veteran or anything, and I have a few comments for people possibly seeking employment. The management there, although nice and somewhat respectful if they like you, have no idea how to handle pay and scheduling.

As an example, during Christmas week I worked 56 hours and 6 days, one of them being a 12 hour shift. The next week the manager only scheduled me for 4 days and most of them being very short on hours (Although I did have a 12 hour shift on New Years Eve) so that he could manipulate the time cards to show me working below 80 hours in the two weeks.

On the few occasions I have worked more than 80 hours in one pay period, rather than pay up a bit more for overtime, I was marked for 79 hours.

If we complain about anything, we get our hours cut back until we have only 1 day scheduled (I have been able to hold my tongue enough for this not to happen to me yet, but I have seen many great servers get fed up and leave for this reason.), and for this reason, those who's voices matter have never had the guts to speak up about it and get something done.

If any local health inspectors or corporate representatives read this message, make this location your prime target for inspection. I can't count the health code violations that go on behind the scenes on any number of my digits (Though, for my part, I work around this and make sure my own customers receive the best food, and have even paid for a meal out of my pocket when my manager wouldn't discount it.), and as my main complaint says, the management is terrible at what managers are meant to do.
